Recently purchased new laptop with Windows Vista. Can I partition my 160Gb HD so i can also run Windows XP?
I need to use XP also to run other programs not compatible yet with Vista. Even my ISP (DUN) software has no driver ready for Vista.

You can actually shrink a partition in Vista itself, create a new partion with the newly created space, and then install XP on this new partition.
Setting up dual boot with Vista already installed (rather than the other way) takes some additional steps, but it is not difficult.

Yes.
Backup all your files to DVD/external hard drive as you'll lose them in the process.
Put in the XP install disk. When you can specify the drive, delete the partitions and create on a little less than half your drive(I'd say 70GB for XP and 90 for Vista)
Install XP on the 70GB partition.
When it's done, simply put in the Vista disk and specify for it to install on the 90GB.
XP and Vista get along fairly well when it comes to dual booting :)

You no need to make partition in your hard disk. Run the program in the compability mode.
