The Clash debut album 1977. It's my favorite for many reasons. It sounds hungry to play. White man in hammersmith palis is considered the first world music song recorded by an American or U.K. band witjout roots in it. Songs like Janie Jones and Garage Band still sound so fresh today. The lyrics are about things that matter, a very social political album but done with street sense. Career Opportunities and Hate and War as great examples. Even the cover song I Faught The Law is one of the best reversions ever recorded I feel. It's sounds so vibrant and full of life. The album overall is agressive in it's stance but with sense behind it's reason and direction. At the time it came out it was a landmark album across many Countrys of the world. As The Clash was being called a punk band however, it was not pushed and was not of huge impact in the states as their stations rejected it. On the street level music scene in the U.S. it was regarded as one of the bravest albums ever made. Of course The Clash went on to become pretty big all over the world, but only lasted 6 years in all. They are also known as being the first white rock band to embrace New York Rap. World wide they are probably the most respected punk bands but their range of music far escaped the genre of punk or rock or reggae or any genre at all. The Clash was all about breaking down new barriers. They simply rule!!!

Dirt - Alice in Chains.
It's just so gloomy, and self-introspective. I was never a junkhead or drug user, but somehow I relate to the songs, especially when I'm in a pissy mood. Jerry Cantrell's songwriting is phenomenal, the recording is exceptional, and the band definetly gets their mood across... even 10+ years after its release.
I just saw Alice In Chains with their new singer last Friday in San Diego. Awesome!

My favorite album is KT Tunstall's album Eye To the Telescope. I just feel incredible everytime I listen to it as if it gives me a musical high. I consider KT absolute musical genius.

"Flying in a Blue Dream" by Joe Satriani. It is simply the most amazing all around instrumental album I have heard.
-
"In through the out door" Led Zeppelin
Not that any explanation is needed but it was honestly the first Led Zeppelin album I remember hearing. All of their albums are wickedly awesome but this one stands out to me.

Birtha by Birtha. This was an all female group from 1972-73 but
they never got any recognition like Fanny but they have the best
Album around and it would kick ass even today. The lead singer
can sing sofly/sweet like on Tuesday or scream higher and longer than anyone I have ever heard on "Workin' On a Dream".
It is almost impossible to get their two albums but I did see it on
the internet as a double set on time. Look the up and read about
them they were awesome. One song is written by Ike & Tina Turner but I don't know if she ever recorded it called "Hen-Pecked
Man"

I actually have two albums that are the best. The first one is your first album (Fallen). This is the first album I ever bought and even now I think it's still the best. The songs are deep and very emotional and it still gives me the creeps sometimes 'cuz it's very haunting.
The second is City of Evil by Avenged Sevenfold. The songs are truly amazing and their guitar solos and insane harmonies are just over the top. One of their songs, Bat Country, really made me want to play guitar and learn to play like Zacky and Syn.
I'm just hoping more albums like these are made, only better.

Best album of all time has to be "How To Measure A Planet?", by The Gathering. Very conceptual, very intense, very atmospheric. This is an album that you can just get lost in since there's so many levels to it.
Check it out Amy, you won't be disappointed!!!
BTW, What's your favorite album?

"Vitalogy" by Pearl Jam
It's hard to find good rock & roll (or music of any kind) these days that hasn't been ruined by music producers who aren't happy with a song until it's so perfected with computer re-mixing that it sounds like an electric toothbrush.
To me, "Vitalogy" represents the pinnacle achievement of a band that has stayed true to what music is supposed to be about. It's a powerful, personal, meaningful album that comes across as weird and difficult to most listeners simply because it refuses to stoop to the level of ear candy just to please the audience.

Having been a teenager of the 80s, I'd answer Sports by Huey Lewis & the News. The Heart of Rock and Roll pretty much defined by one lyric what was to come: "pretty pretty girls all dressed so scantily." You rarely get music this good, basic, or innocent in the 2000s.

You Forgot it in People, by Broken Social Scene. Why? Simply because the music is addictive, emotional, and epic. It's something a little different from the average rock you hear on the radio. It all comes together rather nicely.

Sargent pepper's lonely hearts club band from the Beatles!
Magical mystery tour comes in second!
I guess its the originality of the music and lyrics, back in the mid 60's there were a lot of great music. But these two albums were the summum of musical genius, at that point in time!

Without a doubt, the best album of all time is Def Leppard's Hysteria. It was the first concert I ever went to see and holds a special place in my memory. I can still rhyme off the lyrics and remember what song is next.

Definitely CORE from Stone Temple Pilots.
All the hype from Nevermind, Rage Against the Machine and Ten during those years made people forget about Core. The sound was what rock n' roll was all about in the 90s: simple yet full, not electronic and raw. Everything we emotional without having a political undertone every time. The band had a presence and life to it that just blew me away. Every time I go on a road trip, I still bring the CD along for sure and CrackerMan will leave a scar on my speakers every time! Ah! to be in my teens again! ;)

Dark Side of The Moon, Pink Floyd...!
The album's concept and depth is why I love it. The variation in song style and tempo make this an incredible masterpiece. The primitive techniques used to create the sounds and experimentation with at the time "new" technology and also basic technology, was well ahead of its time and created a breakthrough in the way music is made and listened to.
Nothings beats a sunday afternoon with a bunch of beer, a bunch of friends and Dark Side Of The Moon.

This legend has put all of his awsome chart topping hits on one CD! It's a dream come true and I listen to it everyday!

I would never be able to pick an all-time favourite album! But one at the top of my lists is Melissa Etheridge - Melissa Etheridge (the Album)! When this was released, all of these songs were speaking to that exact moment in my life and it put what I was thinking into words with musical accompaniment. Who could ask for anything more? To this day, whenever I listen to this album, that whole period of my life comes to memory so vividly! It helps me to remember everything so clearly, people, emotions, events, and all! This one speaks to my heart, I guess that's what I am trying to say!
I love your music too! Some of your music is touching as well!
