Garage door is broken. I need advice about repair?
The sliding hinge (it looks like a curved L - like a lever arm) that attaches from the motor to the door broke off its attachment to the garage door. It literally ripped off its attachment to the door.
What's going to happen? Do I need to replace the entire door, or can I somehow replace the piece to which the hinge was attached?
Please give advice, hopefully if you're a garage door repairman

Your best bet would be to replace your bracket with a piece of pre punched angle iron, this spreads the pull out a little more and should hold as long as your door is not damaged. reisydoor@yahoo.com with questions

I had a similar thing happen. The lag bolts on the bracket pulled right through the steel door framing. I was able to repair this by using nut and bolt with washers to replace the lag bolts. It's still working. In your case, if the bracket itself is damaged, you should be able by buy a similar one at a garage door parts supply house.

yup brace it with 2 pieces of angle iron across the bottom and top of the damaged panel and lag it into the stiles...then bolt a vertical piece to the horizontal pieces of angle in the center of the door and reattach the operator arm.....use perforated angle iron
