Seriously, Whats the real effects of drinking and flagyl?

I've read a million different sites, but I've also read some personal blogs, and different peoples reactions vary. If metronidazole DOESNT upset you stomach, are you still at risk for getting sick if you drink alcohol? I finished my last dose at 6pm today and its 10:30 now. It's my best friends birthday and we're going out for drinks..... If I WILL get sick, is there any way to counteract the effects?

I was on flagyl for 7 days and got told not to drink until after 9 days. I have a few drinks most days so I researched on the internet to find out if I could drink while on this drug without getting sick. After reading the side effects of drinking with flagyl I decided to stay sober while I was on the drug. I finished my 7 days but didnt wait 9 days before drinking. I had 3 drinks on the evening of the 8th day (the day after I finished the drugs). I was planning on having more drinks but I couldnt. After the third drink I experienced a lot of the side effects I found on all the websites. I felt like I had about 20 drinks instead of just 3, I felt so hot all of a sudden, dizzy, very thirsty for water, blurred vision, felt queasy. I didnt throw up but I didnt feel like drinking anymore either. You have only finished your medication a few hours ago. The side effects will probably be worse for you because you havent waited that long. I know nothing will stop you drinking if you really want to. Nothing stopped me either. Just remember what happened to me and be prepared.

See, thats all I wanted - someones PERSONAL experiences w/ the medication. I had about 2 drinks last night and was fine, but decided I was worrying too much to even enjoy myself and ended up realizing its better to wait! T-24 hours now! Thanks again!

it wil make you sick it is the way the drug works sorry. Wait a couple of days then drink. We prescribe this med and I make sure they know if they drink they will get sick.
