Migraines - What works for you?

I constantly get migraines! I mean, every other day... & they make me feel so sick. Including, nausea, fatigue, etc. Can anyone give me any suggestions of what helps for their migraines - even if it's not medication!

Here's what I have tried: Laying in a dark room (my mom's remedy), Imitrex, Relpax, Midrin (all rx), regular Advil, cutting out caffeine (then I got migraines more often & 10x worse), cutting out alcohol (has helped slightly) - what else would you suggest? I can't take these! :'(

Do not use any caffeine as it aggravates the headaches . drink water and sports drinks, dehydration is a frequent problem .

Here's a treatment that I have found works even though it may sound funny.
Place an ice pack at the back of your neck for ten minutes at a time. Do this several times a day. Massage toothpaste (yes, toothpaste) on your temples and lay quietly in a cool room With the ice pack on the back of your neck . This will often take away the pain.

As weird as the toothpaste sounds, I'm willing to try anything different.

Thanks to everyone else as well! Great answers. Lots of helpful tips. Except the mayo one, that concerns me.
Try a feverfew vitamin that you can get at most pharmacies. My new website http://www.healthycomparisons.… lets you compare all of the top products side-by-side and read reviews about the products.

Personal - Good night sleep, drink plenty of fluids, healthy diet, watch salt level intake, have your eye's tested and maintain stress levels.
At work and day to day life - correct lighting bright lights of fluro can cause migrains, over use of computers watching too much tv, your posture.

Imigran. It's not OTC, need a doctor's prescription.
Also get your vitamin levels checked- your Iron, b12, magnesium, vit D could be low.
If you get them that often, there's something wrong. I get them several times a month and I found out that I'm anaemic which could be a contributing factor.

I am a chronic migrain sufferer.I take a prescription medication called Topemax which is for Epilepsy but is having good results for people who have regular migrains.I have been taking it every day for a few months now and although initially there were a few annoying side effects...

... they have practically gone and the migrains are all but none!! I do have to control my stress levels but it is such a relief as I am not missing work as much anymore :-)

I have a better quality of life!!

I also agree with the fluro lights - I have removed the light above my computer at work - there is plenty of natural light and light from other globes in the office that I don't need one directly above me and it has helped alot too!!

For something natural that may help prevent and lessen the severity of migraine I take Amino Acid Chelated Magnesium 500mg. I take 3 with breakfast and 3 with dinner. It takes quite a long time (a couple of months) for it to start working, but it seems to be working for me.

Take St. John Wart daily to prevent and/reduce the frequency and intensity of migraines.
If that doesn't work try Olmesartan Medoximil. It is normally prescribed to lower blood pressure but because it relaxes blood vessels it prevents migraines in clinical trials look it up in wwww.pubmed.gov
