What if I have augmentin 875 mg, can I break the tablets in half?
I have amox/k clav prescription for 875 mg, but only have 9 of them....usual dosage is 500 mg.....can I take less or are the pills 875 mg amox on one side and 125 clavulanate potassium on the other side?

You have to love it "875 mg. means amox. 500 mg. and clav. 125 mg." Apparently, someone didn't do well in math.
As others have said, the ingredients are mixed. Taking less than the prescribed dose or for less than the prescribed time is setting you up for an infection by a resistant bacteria. Bad idea.
It's best to get a new Rx.

875 mg. means amox. 500 mg. and clav. 125 mg. They are evenly distributed. Sure, you can break them.

You say the usual dosage is 500 mg. Where did you get these 875 mg tablets? I don't want to scold you, but if a physician did not prescribe these, don't take them. If you have an infection, you cannot know which medication that infection is sensitive to and you may simply worsen the infection. If your physician prescribed 500 mg and the pharmacy gave you 875 mg, return them to the pharmacy. If your physician prescribed 875 mg, take them.

The medication is usually equally distributed throughout the whole pill.
