no no no no no
600 at the most. i weigh 130 and an 800 tears me up. i have to take 400
make sure he takes it with food.
and it also depends in what the motrin is for and what he feels comfortable with.
in the navy, we pass that out like candy.. and its pretty safe, other than the upset stomach..

Motrin is ibuprofen. It comes in 200 400 600 and 800 mg tablets. It does NOT come in 500 or 1000, they must be thinking of tylenol. As stated an 800 mg tablet is a prescription dose and should only be taken by the one prescribed for. Meantime an OTC single pill is 200 mg and if you take 4 you get the same as an Rx dose. You have failed to tell us why you are giving him this which might be helpful but to answer the original question he can safely take that.

aren't motrin 800's prescribed? if so, it should be HIS prescription.
I was in the navy, weigh 155 and took 2 500mg motrin for pain without worries.
FOR absolute advice CONSULT your local doctor, or at least the walgreens/target/whatever pharmacist!
