How much should baby movement slow down in the last trimester?
I am 35 weeks and over the last two days, the baby's movements have drastically slowed down. My doctor said I would notice less because the baby was running out of room but I didn't think it would be quite so much.
I got worried and did the test where you drink cold water and lay down for two hours and hope for 10 kicks. I felt 14 "movements" though most were barely noticeable and very mild. I guess that still counts -?
Just wondering if this sounds normal and if everyone else experiences this...

it still counts your baby was probably resting when you did the test too. my baby slept all day yesterday and then last night would not stop moving in between contractions lol. if it concerns you get it checked out. but if you feel movement i personally think your fine. i never have done that 10 movement thing and my baby is fine. good luck.

yes its normal. Also, by 30-35 weeks a baby's circadian rhythm is in place, causing them to be more lively when you're not moving, generally while youre asleep.
You'll get some harder pushes at this point, but less of the quick jabs that you used to have. Theres just less room.
Also, this is another rapid growth time, there will be days where there is almost no movement because the baby is sleepy and growing (just like a newborn) and after those couple of days baby comes back twice as active and twice as strong. I had that A LOT during pregnancy.
It sounds fine to me.

if you are EVER worried at all about your babys movements call the dr at once, its what they are there for. im 39 weeks due this tuesday. when i was 28 weeks i fell down 4 stairs, on my bottom and i knew 110% i never hit my tummy, but for a few hours baby didnt move once. i called the modwife and she brought me in and sure as fate baby started a gymnastic routine as soon as she hooked me up to the fetal monitor - i felt so stupid lol.
i think you and your baby are fine but if its on your mind, get checked out. my baby still has lazy days where i have to poke and prod my tummy to get it to move but never ever let yourself worry cos its not good for either of you

Your getting close so the baby will slow it's movements a bit but not much. If you feel ANY movement & you stated 14 in one sitting everything is fine. Remember that the baby will begin to turn & head downward so he may also move differently - not just random kicks. It gets worrisome close to the end but try to relax & enjoy this process. If the baby stops ALL movement go to the emergency room.

There isnt much room left in your womb for the baby to move now! But as long as you feel movement then there should be no problems

I also experienced 'on' and 'off' days for movement a lot between 33-36 weeks (now 39 weeks). I think sometimes they just don't move much for a while, then get an energy boost and start turning again.
The nature of the movements is also much different later on - more wriggles than kicks. If you're not actively on alert for them, you can easily miss them. Not only are they less violent, but you're probably used to a certain level of movement by now and don't notice it. You can't be paying attention for every second of the day. That's superhuman!
Contact your care provider if you're really worried, but I think it's supposed to change around that time.
