Zofran and Unisom during pregnancy?
I'm currently on my 10weeks, I have a really bad all day sickness and I couldn't keep anything down, even water.
Because I got dehydrated and lose about 8lbs, my Ob gave me combination of 1/2 of 25mg unisom (twice a day and zofran every 8 hours (but I only take one daily but if got worse i take twice daily). I don't take unisom and zofran at the same time, usually 4-5 hours apart.
The unisom calm me down and the zofran help keep the food down.
My question is, is it safe for the baby? I just worry if the medication will hurt the baby but if I don't take it, I couldn't give the baby nutrition that the baby need.
And I don't take my folic acid (because make my stomach upset, but I do eat a lot of colored vegetable and fruit everyday).
Please help ?

YES! I had severe sickness too - miserable. I was getting IV's and everything. The good thing is it means you have LOTS of good hormones sustaining the pregnancy! Just know, this too shall pass - it wouldn't last forever and you will feel a lot better the further along you get.
Only take it if you feel you need to, but if you need to, don't feel guilty - the baby will be FINE! I took Phenergan (prescribed for morning sickness) with my kids and they are straight A students, rarely sick, healthy healthy healthy!
My midwife said you can do unisom and B-6 and that helps sometimes too. I tried, it didnt work for me - but maybe for you. You can ask your OB about it.
Do what you can do - try to stay hydrated. If you ever think you're dehydrated, call the doctor. Rest and try to feel better. I remember how bad it would be - I went through it 4 times!
Relax because it will all turn out to be worth it in the end!
Best Wishes!!!

My fiance had the same all day sickness. our doc put her on Zofran. It's supposed to be perfectly safe for the baby. He's doin great in there now, and he kicks like a little mule.
Hang in there, Missy started feeling better around wk 13-14.

ask your doctor or pharmacist.
most doctors aren't that dumb to give you medication that will harm your baby, as long as you told them you were pregnant. it's always a good idea to follow up though. just ask your doc, not some nitwits on YA.

Your medications should be perfectly fine to use during pregnancy, and are commonly given to women with severe "morning sickness" or with hyperemesis gravidum. It's way better to take those medications and be able to give your baby proper nutrition than to go without the meds.
