The person above said that Yaz is aka as Yasmine. I'm just wanting to clarify that Yaz is NOT the same as Yasmine, they are two totally different pills. :) I'm on Yaz strictly for PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). I found it to be perfect for me, it's the only thing that has helped alleviate my PMDD symptoms. The only two side effects I had when first starting it were nausea and headaches, both of which went away in a couple of months.

The NuvaRing I'm not too familiar with, but I do know that some women who have PMDD and try it feel worse when it comes to the PMDD.

I haven't gained weight on the Yaz. Keep in mind that everyone is different, the side effects that one experiences won't necessarily be the same as another.

I've tried both. I thought at first the Nuva ring would be really disgusting and difficult to insert. But it's really not at all - especially if you're used to using tampons anyway. And it stays in place just fine. You can't even feel it. Here are the pros and cons of both:

    Nuva:
con - has estrogen and that made me a total $%%^!
pro - didn't have to worry about taking a pill every day - that was the best pro for me!

    Yaz (aka Yasmin) -
con: it's a pill so you gotta be consistent with it.
pro: it's progestin and so that did wonders for my awful mood from the nuva - I was back to normal.

That's really it. Guess all you can do is try. I was wondering about trying that Mirena IUD but it's so expensive.
