I have a UTI but i don't think the levaquin is working?
I get UTI's about every 3 months, and i do everything the doctor has told me to prevent them but i still get them, anyway i went to the doctor and they prescribed me 3 days worth of levaquin at 500 mg each, i took the second one last night but i don't think its going away, levaquin worked great when i took it the last time, could i become immune to it because i became immune to bactrim

Levaquin is a very good medication for UTI's. Please take the full dose of the medication. Normal dosing for an uncomplicated UTI is 250-500 mg qd x3 days. If after the third day is done and you are not feeling better, call your doctor's office, and see what they want to do.
As I said Levaquin is a very good drug. There is not a lot of resistance especially in UTI's unless you picked your infection up in the hospital (e.g MRSA/MDRSA).

If you are seeing a doctor about this; call him and ask what you should do now. Maybe, you need to see him again.

Cipro is usually the antibiotic of choice for a UTI. If the Levaquin hasn't worked, see if your doctor will prescribe that. Also, the last time I had a UTI, I had to take Cipro for 10 days. Three days seems much too short a course in order to be effective.

Some infections can become resistant to a certain antibiotic I would get another test for your infection. Also there are over the counter test for uti now you can get one and see it it test positive also the lab can tell you if your infection is resistant to this antibiotic. It will take about 3 days in the mean time make sure you drink a lot of cranberry juice or take azo cranberry pills. and water to flush this out I would drink 5 bottles of 20oz waters.

You may becoming immune to the antibiotic. If you are having so many uti's, I would suggest getting a referral to a urologist to try to find out a cause or such. For the pain of a uti, there is the over-the-counter Azo standard though Not in place of an antibiotic. Feel better soon!

The bacteria could possibly have become resistant. Finnish the last pill and if you still don't have relief call the doctor. You should also set up an appointment with a urologist to make sure there isn't something else going on. Hopefully they actually cultured your urine sample. Also you may need a prophylactic course of antibiotics like say you might take one macrobid after each time you have sex, for several months to one year
