Can I give my 3 week old baby chamomile tea for stomach ache?

she seems to have a stomach ache and I want to soothe her from it.

Additional Details

I believe I was not clear on my question and problem. I had Ice cream and afterwards I breastfed my baby. An hour later I got a bit of a stomach ache, then a bit gassy. I believe thats the reason why my baby has a tummy ache.

Absolutely not--if she has a stomach ache, she is probably allergic to her formula or something you are eating if you breastfeed. Take her to the pediatrician and he/she will recommend a remedy for you which may include diet change.

This is really not a good idea. Herbal remedies are not recommended for infants.

Try massaging her tummy a little... she may have gas. If this doesn't work, you'll want to take her to your doctor for a check up. She may be having trouble with her formula, or with something in your diet, if you breast feed.

Hope the little one is better soon!

Absolutely NOT. If your baby has a medical problem like a stomach ache, do NOT come to Yahoo answers for help. Call your pediatrician or find that baby a doctor immediately. Take the baby to a walk-in clinic, or if it is bad enough go to your local emergency room if it is after hours.

Also, you need to seek parental training classes that will help you know the proper way to care for your baby. Coming to an anonymous Web site for medical advice for a three-week-old is very poor judgment. Taking care of an infant is a huge responsibility and not an easy one. Perhaps parental training classes will help. Everyone needs assistance at times. Best wishes.

Not a good idea. You could switch formula to soy or non-milk based. Or you could try gripe water if you're looking for a natural remedy. You can get that at a drug store or babiesrus. Putting baby on the tummy or laying him/her face down with the head in the palm of your hand so that his/her tummy is resting on your forearm might help too. If you're nursing I would eliminate all gassy, greasy foods and avoid spicy stuff too. Make sure you're not drinking a lot of caffeine or alcohol or taking prescription drugs as well. You can also try bouncing baby - I would sit on the yoga ball and bounce a little. That would help sometimes. I hope baby feels better soon!

I don't live in the states but in Switzerland they sell baby safe fennel tea for when they have tummy aches. I have been using it for my daughter's colic and she has been perfectly fine.

NOOOOOOOOOO! if she seems like she is in alot of pain(persistent high pitched crying), or something just doesnt seem right, call your pediatrician. you should have a list of when to call. otherwise, gently massage her tummy in a clock wise direction, bicycle her legs a bit to get things moving, try burping...but you cant give her anything. i would call the doctor tommorow just to make sure everything is alright. but do not feed her anything other than your breast milk/formula...her stomach cant digest anything else!!! the tea will make it WORSE.

I asked my health visitor about chamomile tea for colicky newborns and she said it was fine, there is nothing in it that will harm baby.
Try it and see if it works. Also, have you tried Infacol or Gripe water, these too may help.
But if the pain persists I would take baby to see your GP just to make sure.
If you are formula feeding, don't mess about with changing her milk unless you speak to your GP.
