Toshiba Satellite laptop goes into black screen without warning?

I just got a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 for Christmas and it shuts down every so often, it did it a few minutes ago and i felt it to see if it overheated, it was warm but not hot. Also it doesn't exactly shut down, it just goes into a mode like if it were sleeping but hitting the power button doesn't turn it back on or anything. I have to hold the power button down and turn it off then turn it back on. It does this without warning and I'd really like to know why its doing this. Thank you.

That sucks. I have the same problem. What are you doing when it happens?

I don't think setting it on high performance all the time is very good for the computer.

You should try to return it if necessary. It doesn't happen to me that often but I will also try to return it. Unless I can find the fix, this is a huge problem for a new computer.

Had this problem on my Toshiba A200 laptop since first Vista updates in 2007. Lived with it, learned to hate Vista until a month ago, considering Win7 to fix this, I read it may be due to a Intel video driver update. Haven't seen it since that driver update. Why Windows Updates didn't handle this?!?
