Is CRIMINAL MINDS the most unrealistic program on Television?

I have worked for a large urban PD for 37 and worked homocide in a year where i worked 13 murders in six months. Many were easily cleared the smoking gun or dripping knife types where the suspect surrenders for confesses without much work. It is ridiculus to see the FBI come in and take over from the local cops like Mayberry RFD. Big city cops work countless murders and are the experts on homocides and the FBI agents work bank robberies, terroistist activity, interstate related crimes. You have these two sugar pants female agents on Criminal Minds that know much more than a seasoned big city homocide detective which is bogus, but my wife loves it so I have to sit there and endure this crap.

Of course Criminal Minds is crap, but it is on TV for propaganda value. It continues the myth that the FBI is omniscience. It is sucked up by the media, both national and local, to beat down local police via the less than subtle call for something the Founding Fathers greatly feared, a National Police Force.

IMO, the best cop-show on TV was Homicide: Life on the Street.

What I dislike about Criminal Minds is their over-selling of a "psychological profile" as if they can provide demonstrable data for peer reviewed that an action A leads to Crime B.

At best criminal profiling may produce a strong association between action P and results Q. But Federal funding is so often done by people who failed descriptive statistics and still received a degree in psychology.

It's TV. Of course it's unrealistic. At least it's not "The Unit".

Maybe you should just lighten up a bit, and sit still, watching it quietly because you love your wife??

If you can't manage that, another option would be to go to the kitchen and cook her dinner or a snack while she enjoys her show?

Also, what in the world EVER gave you the idea that ANYTHING on TV had ANYTHING to do with reality????

I get a laugh at it too; especially that scraggaly long haired kid that looks like he's 12 and wears his firearm improperly. He'd get his weapon jacked in no time out on the streets.

However, my wife likes it too, so I am forced to watch it as well.

It is a show that is WRITTEN from the imagination of people.

I would have to vote for CSI Miami. I love how they solve all of their murders in the span of a couple of hours, Also, in REAL life the media could two craps about the scientists in the forensic unit, let alone know them by name. Of course scientists are what they are, not officers who lead SWAT raids, and if anyone had shot as many people as LT Cain they would be staring at a desk for the rest of their career, if they still had one

Actually, CSI is the most unrealistic show on TV. In reality, most Crime Scene Techs are civilian lab people, not certified officers.
Additionally, I worked on a homicide case last year and the family complained that I didn't examine the scene 'like they do on CSI'...
Life and Investigations DO NOT go down like television....
