You probably have skier's thumb. It's an injury of the ligaments in your thumb, it's a common type of injury in skiing. You should ice it or use a cold pack for 20 mins on, and 40 mins off to control pain and swelling. Repeat as necessary. When you can, make an appointment with your doctor to have that thumb checked out.

yeah, it absolutely could be broken. Or sprained.
Get an X-Ray.

you may want to go get an x ray to rule out a broke bone.. I broke the bone by my thumb and needed a whole arm cast.. grr.. GOOD LUCK

I think you should put ice on it as much as possible to help the swelling go down since swelling causes pain and put heat on it when you're not icing it to help the pain. If you can't tell that it's getting better in maybe a day you should probably go to the dr.

You could have torn the ligaments in your thumb. Also called skiers thumb. I had this happen before but in volleyball, but the same thing happened. You'll probably get x-rays and if there's no broken bones it's either a sprain or torn ligament. If it's the torn ligament then you'll probally get a gaunlet cast or a thumb spica. I had a gaunlet cast for four weeks and it wasn't so bad. I couldn't move my thumb but I could still move my wrist. Hopefully it's not too bad. Good luck.

Yeah you probably broke it. My ex-boyfriend broke his thumb skiing. Its a common way to break your thumb. Go to Urgent Care.
