Is a lesbian stud a transvestite?

My friend says I'm a transvestite. I don't think I am. I am a stud. For people that don't know, I am a lesbian that dresses like a boy. I don't in any way want to be a man. I just prefer those type of clothes. I do have a short hair cut and people do sometimes mistake me as a teenage boy. I do act more dominant but I still don't consider myself a transvestite. She said that in her womens study class that is what they call it. Um, so pretend I don't care about lables, am I considered a transvestite.

According to the ABSOLUTE definition , yes you are.
'Transvestite' is from the Latin trans = across, and vestire = (to) dress.

But in general usage, you would not be described by most people as a transvestite.
Most people would not describe a woman in trousers as a transvestite, because trousers are not exclusively male garments (few things are) but a man in a dress would be, because, for the last 800 or so years, dresses are generally considered exclusively female.

'Transvestite' is normally reserved for those people who wear the clothes of their opposite gender BECAUSE they are the clothes of their opposite gender, to fulfil some internal (usually, but not always, sexually-motivated) compulsion.
