Is a lesbian stud a transvestite?
My friend says I'm a transvestite. I don't think I am. I am a stud. For people that don't know, I am a lesbian that dresses like a boy. I don't in any way want to be a man. I just prefer those type of clothes. I do have a short hair cut and people do sometimes mistake me as a teenage boy. I do act more dominant but I still don't consider myself a transvestite. She said that in her womens study class that is what they call it. Um, so pretend I don't care about lables, am I considered a transvestite.

According to the ABSOLUTE definition , yes you are.
'Transvestite' is from the Latin trans = across, and vestire = (to) dress.
But in general usage, you would not be described by most people as a transvestite.
Most people would not describe a woman in trousers as a transvestite, because trousers are not exclusively male garments (few things are) but a man in a dress would be, because, for the last 800 or so years, dresses are generally considered exclusively female.
'Transvestite' is normally reserved for those people who wear the clothes of their opposite gender BECAUSE they are the clothes of their opposite gender, to fulfil some internal (usually, but not always, sexually-motivated) compulsion.

Stud does not mean transvestite. As you said it is just another term for butch. I mostly hear that term used towards butch lesbians that are minorities like black or mexican.

No you're not. Every year a new label is put on certain things in our society. It's people's way of making sense of the world. They are close minded and unthinking people.
No offense, but I always thought that a lesbian stud was one with long fingers. ??
Don't pay attention to labels. Labias on the other hand. okay, sorry...I joke a lot.

ha.
well. no. you're not a transvestite. if you like being a girl, but you dress like a boy, and it's just because you like those clothes, then no. you're only transgendered if you want to be the opposite gender.
dont worry. im the same way. guys clothes are WAY more comfortable then girls.

The short answer is Yes!... By straight standards you are considered a transvestite, but narrow minded bigots always place labels on anything they find against their prejudiced way of life. Don't worry about it, be yourself and drop that bigoted girlfriend of yours.. she's not your friend. She was taught by someone, perhaps her parents, to hate.
Here are the lyrics to a song from the musical South Pacific. They say it all.
You've Got To Be carefully Taught
You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!

I'm the opposite of you Im a biological guy that lives 100% of my life as a woman. I think that difference between yourself and a trans. Is that you have no intention to be a guy, where as I spend every minute of my life trying to make sure that I pass fully as a girl and trying to cover up any guy features that I might still have left

"Transvestite" is an archaic term that comes from the psychiatric industry in the first half of the 20th century. It wasn't just a label - it was a diagnosis. 50-100 years ago, a woman who strongly preferred men's clothing might have been "diagnosed" as a transvestite, but that hasn't been true in decades.
