Ideas on planning a 25th year wedding anniversary party for my parents?
I will be having a 25th year wedding anniversary party/dinner for my parents in a couple of weeks and I have no idea how to get started. I have rented a place but that's as much as I know, thus far. Please have with decorating and food ideas.
P.S., I want it to be a suprise

That is very thoughtful of you !
You said that you have rented the hall , but you don't say how many people you are planning to invite.
It all depends on your budget, if you can afford to pay a catering service they will supply you with a menu . If not you are left on your own unless you have friends or relatives willing to help out with food preparation. If you let me know I will be more help to you , I have helped someone plan for a 25th Anniversary and it actually turned out great.

My siblings and I planned a surprise party for my parents' 30th anniversary - the first place to start is a theme. It makes the decisions for decorating and food so much easier. We gave them a Caribbean cruise for a gift, so we went with a tropical theme. We got silk flower leis for everyone, decorated in lots of bright colors, tiki torches outside, etc. For food, the caterers did a roast pig, Hawaiian rice, lots of fresh fruit and other tropical goodies. We had beer & wine, and a couple of tropical "signature drinks" like pina coladas and daiquiris. We had a cake in the shape of a ship.

YOU ARE A SWEETHEART!
1. Get together all the photos you can of their wedding and their life together. Put them together in frames on a table or as a slide or video production.
2. Do a cake table...if you have one...put a picture of them cutting the cake at their original wedding
3. Get some favors together (email me...it is my job and I will do them for you very cheap and personalized)
4. Pick your menu of food. If I were you I would do it buffet style and do finger foods rather than a dinner. Don't go with anything too messy to eat
5. Handle the music situation; If you get a DJ....make sure he knows all of their favorite songs and has them on hand
6. Get their friends and family involved
7. MAKE CERTAIN THE ORIGINAL WEDDING PARTY IS THERE IF POSSIBLE
8. Get a sign in book..so guests can say they were there and make comments
9. Make or buy table arrangements....something funny would be good......I can help you with ideas since I am an artist (again..email me)
10. Send out invites obviously
11. If you can afford it....put disposable cameras on every table so guests can take pics. Then put a basket somewhere where they can drop the cameras in so your parents can develop them later....it saves on a photographer and gets some pretty funny shots
12.Pass around a book where people can write in their funniest or most heartfelt comments....or have someone walk around with a video camera and ask questions...or both
13. Line up people to give a speech about the couple
14. DELEGATE AUTHORITY: Have someone in charge of getting people on the dance floor...someone else in charge of camera and photo stuff.....etc..dont do it all on your own
GOOD LUCK ....GOT LOTS OF OTHER IDEAS AND WILL ELABORATE LATER

ps....I FOUND SOMETHING ON A WEBSITE THE OTHER DAY THAT IS AWESOME FOR A GIFT IDEA.....If you send this company a pic...they make an actual comical scupture of a couple. Email me for that link too if you want. It is sooooo cool (and only 79 dollars...you will be amazed....i even want one myself)
