Has anyone else realised how bad London smells this morning?
Everywhere I've been this morning, smells of dog poo. I thought it was me, until I heard one of the presenters on a radio station say exactly the same thing!! What's it all about?
Additional Details
They're actually discussing it on Virgin Radio

Yeah, can smell it from here and I live 200 miles away, then again I thought it always smelled like that. When I lived down there it ponged to high heaven every morning, afternoon and even in the evening.

I live in South London and it stinks. It smells most like pig muck from fields, but I am ten miles from the nearest farm at least.

Have you cleaned your teeth? Besides radio presenters talk a lot of cr8p anyway, it's probably them.

Gordon Brown is out of the country so everybody decided to relax - even the the dog poo cleaners, I'm afraid.

Soory but London always smells bad when ever i go there, always makes me feel worn out, dirty, unclean, grimy, etc, etc, I would just rather stay away. Indeed the best thing to actually do for any Londoner is travel out about 5 or 6 miles from the heart of London to a high vantage point and look back into London and see the dirt smog haze to really understand.

Luckily I live in the country and the only odd smell emanates from a manure tip a short distance from where I an now standing. At least it is a healthy smell. I remember some 25 years ago walking down Threadneedle Street to a training seminar and looking at this blue line of polution which appeared to be at the same level as my nose. I think things have improved since them but I do find walking the streets of London quite intimidating.

you're absolutely right, pretty much my entire office has smelt it and they all live at different ends of London (some in reading and essex!).
It's more than the usual stink of London. You're not going crazy.

Yes, it smells horribly this morning-- all the teachers I work with are talking about it. Only thing I can think of is a sewer main broke or something? It does smell specifically of dog poo, but I don't know of any canine who could spreak his stench this far and wide!

sorry, i'm nowhere near london: all i smell is fresh air & the occasional muck spreading! what it's about though is irresponsible dog owners who think it's beneath them to clean up after their pets. i'm sure that's it though; their dogs are too well-bred to poo! we've got a lot of hyacinth buckets out there. my dog's as common as me & we always clean up after ourselves. auntie di.

Stank in North London, stinks in East London.
There must be a flying poo monster hovering over London.

Apparently the smell is being blown over from Holland (where they have just spread manure to grow tulips!)

someone in the office's husband found it on the news somewhere!!
