Cadillac CTS because it is better handling and also has a better reliability rating.
Achievements it has received by JD Power.

Well if reliability is a major factor i recomend the Maxima, but its not going to be as fast or as fun as the CTS. I personally dont know anyone who as a CTS but they seem like good cars. Most caddys are built well, and the V6 is a solid engine. I would go for the CTS but technically speaking Nissan is more reliable then GM.

Nissan is more likely to drive longer--GM vehicles (such as Caddy) from that time period are not known for lasting a long time. If you need to make a decision today, and your budget is tight, go with the Nissan. If you can save a bit more or your budget is likely to change for the better soon, you may consider a newer Cadillac CTS--they've made a lot of progress over the past few years.

The Maxima is going to be much more reliable than the Cadillac another thing you may want to look at is the engine size the Cadillac probably has a bigger engine so its probably not as good on gas. Plus the parts are going to be more expensive for a CTS.

Both are fairly reliable so don't let that dissuade you. The Maxima is more reliable, but the CTS isn't a heap. I'd test drive both, measure the options, and see which you like best out of the two.

The CTS is awesome for performance and luxury. I would go for that. Although, the Maxima isn't a bad car either.
