When you are sitting down in the room before take-off, they will show you some road signs and ask you what they are i.e National Speed Limit Signs, Motorway, Contra-flow Bus Lane signs etc etc so know your signs! Then they will ask you some kinda easy questions like:
When should you dip your headlights?
Who has right of way on a roundabout?
Over-taking on the left, when can you do that?
What causes a car to skid?
(They were the questions I got anyway, common ones!)

Then they take you out to the car, know the ins and outs of the contents of your bonnet i.e how do you check oil, water, brake fluid etc etc,
Inside the car they will ask you to show them where the hazard lights, the fog lights etc etc are.

I passed mine last month, happy days! Best of luck to you and don't be nervous, you will be fine.

You do that seperately. It's a half hour test at designated centres. You better check it out as you need to have it passed before sitting the actual test.

    Hiya,
ok lets see! I presume you have a driving instructor? If yes, he will give you the Questions & Answers, but you have to read the book also, just be careful of road signs, ;who allowed drive in this lane' etc.. There easy enough, but Not essential!

Now when you walk out from the office after been asked your questions, you'll bring the Inspector over to your car. Make sure you have it really clean, windows, lights, Mirrors etc... Also make sure there's no smoke in the car (like if you smoke don't have one in your car on that day) as the Instructor can refuse the test. Now he will ask you to pull the bonnet & he will point things out to and ask 'where does the oil/water/break fluid go'? etc.. Then he'l ask you a couple of Question inside the car, just simple questions about 'wheres the air condition' etc.. Then you will be ready to go!

Upon arriving in the test center I recommend that you reverse your car into the parking spot as you can just drive straight out! When you come to the gate that you just entered on your way in make sure you 'Stop' and then slowly proceed until your out!

After that its easy enough... The Instructor will tell you were to go & what turns to take etc... Just listen to him carefully and if you didn't hear anything he said you can ask him to 'repeat that please' then he will take you to a road Mostly were there are houses, and you will be told to stop! Here you will be asked to do your reversing around a corner... You can take off your seatbelt and adjust your mirrors. Make sure that you look up & down the road (In front of you) about twice to make sure everything's okay! Then proceed, slowly... The path will out of your view completly for a couple of seconds whilst reversing but then it will come completley back into your sight. After that & Most often in around the same place you will be asked to do your three point turn... (Now we all know it can be done in more just so long as you don't hit the path or curb your doing ok!) Then you will be asked your hand signals.. You will have to roll down your window and each one the Instructor asks you do. After that you will be on your way back yo the test center. Still drive very cautiously as it's still part of your driving test!

Back at the Test Center you will be asked to accompany the Instructor to the office (Still not knowing your results!) Then he will add up your points and tell you if you passed or failed.

It's not that hard! Make sure you have a good nights rest and try have a test or two arranged before your test also! Oh one more thing! You can never look in your mirrors too much with Irish driving Instructors! I always did the passenger mirror as number 1, my main mirror number 2, and my drivers miror number3, so every couple of seconds throughout the test I would look and count in my head 1,2,3... That worked!! Hope you pass! Best wishes! :-)

I know you will not believe this but they are questions that are in the Highway Code !, why don't you treat yourself to a copy it just may help you pass and give people the notion that you could turn out to be a responsible driver.

The next thing you will be asking is for someone to take ye test for yer.

Stay sober be lucky may the road rise up to meet you ( That's call a hill)

one good tip i got, was just before u go into ur test move ur rear view mirrior a bit out of the way so u have to stretch when lookin in it(within moderation) just makes the instructor more aware of u using your mirrors!!!! He even comented on how much i used mine, but just because i had moved them!! good luck with ur test
