I was wondering if I use 2 antivirus in 1 computer.. what will happen?

I'm so paranoid about these viruses infecting my laptop..

ofcourse, no one wants their own computer or laptop unit infected with viruses, right?

all of you know that there is no perfect antivirus, right?

what if: for example:
let antivirus A and Antivirus B be an example..

antivirus A can determine viruses using database A,B,D,E,H,K. and Antivirus B is using database D,F,G,I,K,W.

but if you use both antivirus, you can cover up more database..

right or wrong?

You can disregard my example if you don't understand it..

all I want is your opinion of me getting/using two antiviruses at the same time to cover up more area for security..

If you know any "malfunction", or any negative results that might happen to my unit if I continue with this plan, please tell..

dont do that. they will be at conflict with eachother and slow your computer down at best. your computer could eventually crash.

data base engine will be completely different, none of the different antivirus manufacturer same database for different antivirus.

you can install 2 antivirus but chances of false positive is very high in this case.

The two antiviruses will come in constant conflict with each other, possibly screwing up system files, slowing down performance, and many other obnoxious results. It is better to have one solid good Antivirus program than multiple ones, much like how 'doubling-up' on a condom does not help you any more than one, and could possibly be dangerous.

If you're not comfortable with the very good free ones like Avast! then you can pay up for the very good Kaspersky antivirus suite. With a good antivirus and smart browsing habits, it'll never be a problem for you.

highly not recommended. they can easily identify each other's files as harmful and delete them, rendering both ineffective. it's almost better to have a free basic one than to have two advanced systems.

Some anti-virus programs don't fight with others as much. I've never seen AVG 7 Free conflict with anything. That doesn't mean it won't ever, though.

As for databases, they are all about the same. One might lag consistently behind the others, or be different for a handful of viruses, but we are talking about databases of thousands of viruses. AV programs wouldn't be so highly recommended if they didn't afford you a lot of protection.

There really is no substitute for backing up your data once in a while. Multiple backups are a good idea too in case you contract a sleeper virus that is copied to a more recent backup.

Allow Automatic Updates to run frequently. A lot of these updates are to fix security vulnerabilities that viruses can take advantage of. If you keep your OS updated, it will be harder for viruses to infect it.
