If you are a religous person- do you consider incest or marrying your first cousin a sin?

I was just wondering, cause here in California gay marriage is legal,but there are already groups trying to push new legislation,bills through to ban gay marriage again,

and marrying your mom/dad's neice/nephew is legal in 28 states. I think that's sick and wonder why Christians are not showing the same legal fervor towards banning legalized incestual relationships as they do banning same sex marriage?

is it just not a sin , is incest really best?how is doing your cousin moral but gay marriage immoral?

unfortunately, I have to agree with Mr. Harvey Dent, even that law of the land/word of God explanation cannot rationalize away the hypocrisy of being okay with incest while claiming gay marriage is an abomination,cause the bible says

I think it's wrong if you're related by blood and you marry each other. That's just icky.
I also think gay marriage is wrong.

But, I'm not out there fervently opposing either. *shrug*

It is not a sin to marry your first cousin, but it is discouraged.

Especially if the couple is from 2 brothers offspring, but allowed from brother and sister, or sister and sister.

Incest doesn't have one-millionth of the visibility that homosexuality does. So people don't concentrate on that. It is probably a thousand times rarer too.

I can see reasons for laws against allowing very close relatives to marry, because you can't let a couple marry and then forbid them to have kids. That's unconstitutional. You just can't do that. Hence the laws against marrying close relatives. I have seen the results of inbreeding where I live, and it isn't pretty.

As for recognizing gay marriage, it's LONG past time that happened. I do hope that the California ruling stands and that more states recognize gay marriage.

Incest can lead to genetic mutation.

Gay marriage leads to same sex couples being happy, and having a family.

I believe gay marriage shouldn't have anything to do with religion, but with the freedom our constitution gives us.

First and foremost, we are to abide by the Word of God.

The Word says a man is to have a wife. Yet, it does not specify as to how close the relation is between man and woman.

Now, it also says we are to abide by the laws of the land. This applies as long as the laws of the land are not contrary to the Word of God.

So if you live in a nation that does not prohibit a marriage between first cousins, then it is acceptable.

Now, when it comes to a brother and sister, we are talking differently. For incest, relations between siblings is not a relationship values by God nor by most nations.

Yet, suppose a brother and sister were marooned on an island. Then I would not see God condeming such a thing. Yet, I am speaking as a man in this. It would be up to God and the siblings trapped or marooned on the island.
