Tahiti or the Maldives for a honeymoon?

I am getting married in April, 2010. We are tossing up between Tahiti or Maldives for our honeymoon. Factors to consider are cost - not a massive deal, but ballpark range around $10,000 for everything - Leaving from Brisbane, Australia. What is there to do there - although we don't care about tours every day, I would like to have things to do other than sunbake all day! and we really would like to stay in one of those overwater bungalows...
Any advise?

my husband did work in 1 of the beautiful 5* resort in Tahiti Bora Bora and in Maldives. my husband said that they are both beautiful. he said the most beautiful is in Bora Bora. but Bora bora is more expensive than Maldives.

i never been in Bora bora. but i've been in Maldives. me and my husband did work in the resort there. the resort have many excursion. you can go for Male shopping, sunset fishing etc.... they have many water sport also that you and your love can go or you can go diving.

I'm sure you and your love will enjoy your honeymoon.

Maldives, no doubt about it. It is far less commercialized and it is more affordable. You can explore the underwater world, go island hopping, or just sit back and relax knowing that the rest of the world is as far away from as it can possibly be. I did research on all the possible island destinations, and the Maldives are #1.

    Both are excellent choices.
I have been lucky enough to holiday in both places, and found each one has a beauty all of its own.
The Maldives are small flat Islands, whereas Tahiti has the volcanic landscape.
Both have great snorkelling, fishing, markets, and interesting cultures.
The food was fantastic, also like queensland, the tropical fruits, fresh seafood etc was amazing.
The Maldives can be very expensive, because everything is charged in $US. Even though we had prepaid package for accom/food and transfers etc, buying bottled water and alcohol can add up very fast (especially when it was 65c/$)
Both have very friendly locals,(in Tahiti) it was amazing to see how they actually live from day to day in poor conditions, and then on the opposite side of the road.. there is a multi million $ resort.. but they are happy and all have beautiful big smiles.
Make sure you research their customs+culutures,as some things we take for granted in queensland,+aussie, can or may offend some cultures.
My personal pick would be the Maldives,it truely is as good as the pictures show... a turquiose paradise with pure white powder sand..
You will never forget the beauty of this heaven on earth...
Good luck with your decision, and I wish you the most amazing honeymoon holiday wherever you go...

    Gday.

I have heaps of experience sending people to both Tahiti and the Maldives.

There is plenty to do (or nothing to do) in both places depending on what you want to do and your budget.

If I can be of any help to you email me nick@nickbowditchtravel.com and I will help you out.

I sell a lot of honeymoons and so I know how important it is to get it right.

    Thanks
    Nick
