That stupid clip on your chain?

has anyone got any ideas of how to get that little clip onto your chain its drivin me nuts

Is it a brand new chain?
If so, the master link plate has to be pressed on, before the clip can grab the pins.

Instead of using a master link press -
Put the master link plate on - hold a nut (as in nuts & bolts) over one of the pins - squeeze everything together with a pair of vice grip pliers.
Squeeze a little bit at a time and alternate between pins.

The proper name for "that stupid clip" is "The Master Link". Putting

Use a needle nose pliers. Grip one end on the forward link; the other to the closed end (back) of the clip & squeeze.
Put a magnet on it for a couple of minutes so it doesn't go flying.

flat head screw driver should do the trick try using that or a pair of needle nose.

I put them on with needle nose pliers and vice grips but you may want to look at the self-crimping type.

I use a flat tip screwdriver.
A pair of Channellocks (#420) works well, too.
