but here's my answer (from my limited knowledge of Shakespeare)

Merv Hughes as Mercutio from Romeo & Juliet- because he is extremely mercurial, loves fun, loves making jokes. Mercutio is one of the most memorable Shakespeare characters, and Merv Hughes is one of the most memorable cricketers. With his wild words, Mercutio punctures the romantic sentiments and blind self-love that exist within the play, and Merv removes tension from a match!

Rahul Dravid as Macduff from Macbeth- Rahul always stands for what is right. He is truthful and honorable. Macduff destroys his enemy with his sword, and Dravid always destroys the bowlers with his bat.

It would be more fun to answer the question which cricketer most resembles a character out of an Enid Blyton story. I'd ask myself but don't think I can do it yet.

I'm going for Daniel Vettori as Noddy (sorry couldn't resist) in "Hooray for Noddy".

Don't want to highjack the question but Bill Shakespeare is a little highbrow for me...;-)

Shakespear eh? Jeez, no idea. Never studied the Bard at school. Merv Hughes could be Titus, because was that the play where they ate people? I think Hughes must've eaten some players in his time lol.
