hey, i can't give any after birth stories, but i am 35 weeks pregnant, i have GD also, i take insulin twice a day and do the whole checking blood sugar thing as well, my baby is at the perfect size at the moment, but i have been told i will be induced at 38 weeks, women with GD are considered to have a high risk pregnancy so you will be closely monitored from now on, i just wanted to say good luck and i hope things go well for you!

I had gestational diabetes and my daughter was born premature at 34 weeks with very underdevelped lungs and had to spend a month in the NICU. She was 5.5 lbs which is very big for a preemie at that size but she had the lungs of a 28 weeker. I got very heavy while pregnant as well, it does resolve once baby is born but chances are very high that you will have type 2 diabetes when you are older. Like a very high chance. Good luck, just monitor your diet carfully.

aw I'm sorry to hear that.
I personally haven't had it or anything like that.
But I will tell you a story about my friend Kayla.
she was diagnosed with it at 29 weeks, & she had to do the same thing.
The baby was perfectly fine and healthy after she had her, They are doing tests every month to make sure they baby doesnt develope it as well.
But as for Kayla it never went away. She still has it and has to take insulin now and test her blood every day.
It's very scary thing to have.
I wish you the best of luck. <3

I had it with my first son. He was born at 37 weeks due to other complications. I tried the diet first, but that did not do anything for my sugar levels, so I was put on insulin. When my son was born, he weighed 8 pounds. Once I had him, the diabetes went away. I am now 29 weeks pregnant with #2 and have gd again. I am not taking insulin.

Hi, I had gestational diabetes with my first child. I had to control my diet with my son and test my blood sugar 4 times a day. It went away when my son was born and I didn't get it with my second child. My son was pretty big and I don't know if it's because of the diabetes or because my husband was a big baby and still is a big guy. He was 10 lbs 3 oz and 22 inches.
I went in for a checkup around 37 1/2 weeks and they did an ultrasound because I always measured big with him. Well they estimated him to be 9 lbs 2 oz so they scheduled a c section for 2 days later when I was 38 weeks. Well, he was over 10 lbs.
After I had my son both of our blood sugars were perfect and other than getting some fluid in his lungs, which is pretty normal with c sections, everything was fine. If you have any other questions or concerns I can try to answer your questions. Email me anytime =)
