The problem was is that deans was faced with a huge selection problem when he took over the role as manager. many of the stars australia are used to seeing would be far too old to be competitive for the next world cup. so what is he doing? he is raising a team consisting of future rugby stars. im from new zealand, a henry supporter, and even i can see that. considering it is a very young squad with limited international experience, you are bound to get them losing a lot of games. it will work out for the aussies eventually.

Not the way they are playing at the moment. Sadly a lot has to do with the selections. Moving Ashley-Cooper to centre didn't work (again) bu but there was a marked improvement when he went back to fullback. He should have stayed there and had Quade Cooper at 12. I thought that Palu was one of the most damaging forwards on the field, a few dropped balls but still he always upset the defence. He gets pulled off to put a flanker in the No. 8 spot.

This was a game the Wallabies needed to win. The ABs had already won the Bledisloe and they would have been eyeing their northern tour. Instead another loss. Maybe the time is getting closer to both Deans and O'Neill stepping aside.

So it was a poor year for the tri-nations. Big deal -- you can't win everything every season. What counts is getting ready for the next World Cup. One has got to suspect that South Africa peaked a year too early.
