Yes I buy 95% organic food. I have noticed since I started doing this that my kids have stopped getting sick, but that may also have a lot to do with the other natural therapies we have used. Either way, I am happy to pay a little more if it means a healthy happy family, and those that say they can't afford it just don't make it a priority in my opinion (which is their choice as everyone is entitled to their own opinions as to what is highest priority), because I am a single mother of 3 on a pension and make it work. I don't know if I believe that organic food is higher in nutrients or not, there is a lot of contradictary evidence on that topic, but I do believe it is better not to be eating something that has had chemicals sprayed on it. If it kill bugs etc, surely it can't be good for us...?

If I could afford to buy organic food I would. I consider cost. Yet quality is of importance. Better quality in food is obvious in smell, texture, taste, be this bread, cheese, eggs, meat the list is ongoing.

For example...when I purchase groceries for a friend. I purchase non caged eggs, though usually more expensive they are - obviously - better quality.
When it is a very tight budget, I would rather buy half a dozen non caged than a dozen caged. Or buy a dozen and then go without in something else.
I just don't like eggs that come from caged hens.
Why should the farm animal have a poor farm life?
I do not like it when animals are caged/placed in what are farm enclosures and tightly packed while alive.
Farm animals deserve a good healthy life even if they get eaten.
Better quality of farming life for animals results in better quality they are or produce as in the case of chicken/poultry eggs.
Better quality is better for people.

Oh for goodness sake, what is it with this organic rubbish. Every person in the world would have to answer yes to this question, organic means carbon based, and unless you eat purely synthetic man made items you eat organic food every single day.
What you should be asking is do you eat food produced without chemicals in the growing stage, and with no preservatives additives or flavourings included. For example a home grown cucumber fertilised with poo and watered with rain water only, verses a jar of preserved cucumber slices.
There is a whole industry springing up around "organic" which charge rip off prices for stuff that you couldn't tell apart from the rest unless you had a laboratory to analyse it in.

    Source(s):

    Stop this rort now.

What for you people give me thumbs down? This is truth for goodness sake, or don't you believe that carbon is the basis of everything organic you tossers.

I'm no health nut but, I find buying organic foods make me feel a little better about my general health. Like I'm doing a favor for my body. Whether or not its actually doing anything, that's anyone's guess, but it has a placibo effect, so I'll keep on doing it. One of the products I regularly buy is LaraBar Cherry Pie Organic Bars. They come in a variety of flavors but this one is my favorite. They are made using only 3 ingredients. Unsweetend cherries, almonds, and dates. Simple and delicious. Here's some more information on them.

I buy my fruit & vegetables from the Farmer's markets so often it is organic but just not advertised as such. Sometimes it is not organic but I prefer to support my local producers rather than sending my money interstate (adding to worldwide pollution from the transport of produce)...

As for meat, I am far more concerned about buying ETHICALLY produced rather than organic!!!!! I buy all my meat from a local butcher who only stocks ethically produced meats & meat products so I can be certain that even though my family & I are eating meat it was not abused while it was alived & it was killed in a humane way.

I only eat the eggs from my own chooks (if we don't have enough I get eggs from Mums chooks or my mother in law's chooks).

I guess my main focus is on good quality produce from local &/or ethical suppliers rather than organics but I suspect that the majority of what we eat would more than likely have far less pesticides than those grown for huge supermarket chains!

No, it's just not economically feasible at the moment. I try to get free range eggs whenever possible but that's about it.

Organic or not, supermarkets should/must stack more healthier *locally farmed* produce and offer it at discounts to the alternative foreign goods. Of course, that would never happen as corporations care very little for the well being of local industry, apart from putting them out of business..
The wealth of the shareholders is their priority, so they fill the shelves with cheap overseas crap that we (the consumer) have gotten use to and accept because of the low price and convenience..

Never and never will until they prove that it does something for you that commands the premium price.
    So far, it's all nonsense.

Yes, I buy it when I can afford to. The benefits to ourselves, the planet and where relevant the animals raised and slaughtered are well worth it to me. Especially in regards to eggs - it's a small and easy decision and if you've seen Jamie Olivers' Chicken Dinners program, it's really the only choice ethically. Free range eggs have 21 x the omega 3:6 ratio of caged eggs - Omega 3 is something we need more of in our diets - we eat way too much Omega 6 essential fatty acids and it is detrimental to health.

If a product is available organically I always purchase. I have been doing so for years. I'm a single parent on one income but all mine and my 9 year old daughters diet is practically organic- bread, milk, eggs, cereal, pasta, tea, coffee, dairy fruit and veg ( when available) and always meat. I mainly shop coles/ woolworth organic brands.. Granted its more expensive than standard foods but if you give up the junk food, packaged process food and stick to basics it can actually be cheaper. We are never sick and happy and healthy- I think organic should be the way all food is grown and farmed- we would save a fortune on our health/ hospital bill.!

I have only purchased organic food once. I bought a loaf of rye bread because the price had been marked down. I didn't think it tasted any better than non organic bread and I wouldn't have bought it at full price.

My main reason for not buying organic food is that it is too expensive. If it was the same price as the other stuff, I might consider it.

I eat about 95% organic. It is getting so much easier to access these days. Hell, even Coles and Woollies have home brand organic! Yes, with it so easy to access and cheaper prices these days I keep adding more and more of it to my diet. I believe we should be avoiding all chemicals and not putting them into our body or the environment.

To be absolutely honest, I try to buy organic when I can - usually from our local growers market, however I am often put off by the higher price (sometimes much). I also grow vegetables in our backyard as well as have a few fruit trees, which are all grown naturally.

I am slowly migrating to organic foods. I read an article in Times about all the hormones we eat in our meats and I just can't take it anymore. I just bought some organic eggs that cost a little more but for my health's sake it's worth it.

Nope, organic foods are free from pesticide. But how they keep the pests and bugs away from the foods is the main question here. Is organic food modified genetically? To my believe, organic food is risky and mystery.

Yes I do. It is more expensive than other food but I find that I am not wasting any of it. My meals are smaller and I am aware that what I am eating is good for me so chew slower and really savour it which makes me feel fuller sooner.

No, it is no better than non-organic grown food, and that has been proven. I would only buy it if it was cheaper than a comparable product on the day.

no because nutritionally foods the same, also on my limited budget I do not really get a choice. The expense is not worth it with organics.

    Overpriced and over rated.
It isn't worth the added expense when you are on a limited budget in these tight economic times.
