I want to buy and sell cars?

I want to go to auctions, purchase them cheap and sell them privately.
Do i need some type of certificate or license to purchase these cars at an auction?

No license in needed, but if you sell more than 5 cars a year, the dmv will label you a car dealer and then you'll need to get a business license and pay taxes.

Having a friend who is a dealer who does this for a living...no, you don't. You pay taxes on EVERYTHING, from cars sold, cars sitting on lot (inventory tax), property for lot, tools, probably even toilet paper in the bathroom, too.

Good luck in your more fruitful future endeavors.
