What is the best brand name of guitar? What size picks are good?
Additional Details
OK....well, people are very rude on here, but thanks to the helpful ones. My daughter is just starting to play the guitar, so I need one that is reasonable but sounds good, i know nothing about guitars..are .60 mm pics a good size? Also what is the difference between 6 and 12 string? Obviously I assume that one has 6 strings and one has 12 but which is a basic guitar. I found a Fender at WWBC.com and it is 229.00, do you think this is a good one?

that's like asking what kind of car do you think is better, shoot I drive a Nissan PU everyday, because I like it, there's also a 69 Dodge in the garage that I drive every so often, not that I don't like it, it's a handful to drive and real fun and all that, but it's quite expensive also, same goes with guitars, need to know the linage, vintage, and what she was built for. so to answer your Q I'll go with a 58 Gibson Byrdland or a cool little Ibanez Artcore,, I rarley use a pick but when I do, I prefer Dos xxx, or at least the caps

Well, it depends of the genre you want to play. For ex. if you want to learn classical music, It will work an acoustic spanish guitar, made by a luthier (handmade). These are very expensive. If you want to play rock, it'll work an electric Gibson, or Fender, or Ibanez. If you're a country musician, an electroacustic takamine, taylor, washburn, will work well. If you can't afford those brands, a yamaha could be a good option.
About the picks, it depends on the kind of music you wanna play and the thick of the strings, try them and choose the one which is more comfortable.

im a big fan of fender. it really depends what type of music you play, fender usually plays a clear crisp sound. and that is what i like. its great for rock music, and classical. if you are into more of a metal sound then go with jackson guitars. they are best for that.
and with the picks, i wouldnt worry about the thickness and much as the hardness. i recomend a pick that is stiff and doesnt bend easily. but it really depends what works for you. good luck

Yamaha ones are great but im not sure about the pick sizes. you dont want a pick that is too big, so i would go for the rather small ones.
