I'm a girl who's bisexual and has a relationship with the same gender but i'm catholic. Is that bad?

I'm confused because my girlfriend asked me what would i say if she proposed me and i wanted to see if it'll be okay with God and Jesus. I'm too shy to ask my parents about it since they haven't know it yet. (As you might know i'm a teen.) I'm just curious. Please help.

Well. This is a tough question for a teenage brain!

I have a friend with a lesbian daughter who looked all through the Christian Bible and couldn't find one bad word about lesbians. So, he's okay with her being "that way." On the other hand, he talks about God destroying Sodom and Gomorrah because of the gay men there. So, to him, being gay is a serious sin (you know, for men, but not for women). Can you live with that sort of convoluted logic?

Another way to look at this is to say that Jesus gave only one commandment, "Love one another." Now, I'm not saying he meant for everyone to play naked Twister, just that love and compassion are supposed to be central elements of Christianity. Can you live with following the one commandment of Jesus and let the judgmental, angry stuff just roll of your back?

Or ...

Let me give you one more out before you consider switching religions. My dad had a Catholic friend who was a real party boy, but every week, this flea covered dog would go to confession and own up to his mistakes. Can you live with admitting that you are sinning by having lesbian sex (of course, ANY type of premarital sex is a sin, right?), but then regularly confess your sins, say three Hail Mary's and move on from there?

You've got yourself a puzzler there. Good luck. Be kind to yourself and those you love. Jesus would want at least that much.

So it's okay in some way or what? I'm not planning to switch religions at all. I'll be Catholic,I guess. I just believe in God,Jesus,Mary,Moses,angels,and spirits. I'm not just very religious. I've been baptized, first communion and that's all i've done. My parents wants me to go to confirmation.

Sweetie, you do whatever the hell you want. It's your choice, you don't necessarily have to tell you're parents just yet. If you are Catholic then God will love you no matter what choices you make. Tell your parents when you're older or when you feel the time is right, or when you're living independently so they can't throw you out, (if they are very Catholic!).

Your parents should love and be proud of you no matter what you decide to do.

It's not bad at all. You're not going to go to hell or anything like that. It's your body and mind, you can do what you want and God put you on this Earth to do whatever you want with your life. So live it, otherwise you'll regret it later on.

I am not Baptized catholic, but i was raised to be catholic (I am currently in catholic school and will continue until i graduate). To try and answer. Yes, stated in the bible, a person being with someone of the same gender as their own is considered bad to the church. Most churches are too new age to really care about that part. The main concern of the Catholic church is on being a good person to others. I wouldn't think that you have to worry about that though. The church, in my view is more focused on getting more catholics than actually teaching the ones they already have to be "good christian people". It hasn't been a problem for me.

I'm a Christian and used to be a Catholic and I have seen a gay marriage in the Bible and if you read an exact translation (not the King James version or any of that) then you see that it never condems it.

& I know that there are Catholics who accept homosexuality.

Well Honey. I think you should just go with your heart. And follow whatever you want to do. God will never hate you. He loves all his children. Don't be scared of going to hell. Its not going to happen. I'm bisexual too. And i'm in love with my girlfriend. I'd never let her go. Just go with what you feel. Don't do what a book tells you to do.

Ok, i am confused by someones answer above...if we are born gay and have no choice as you stated, than how come we don't start thinking about sex until our teens? Children arn't born sexually attracted to people, I believe i am correct.

Yeah as according to 'your religion' it is man & woman. But then again religious people just pick and choose what parts they want to follow. I don't suppose you rest on Sundays or stone people. You probably don't even go to church.

Well, every sin is equal in God's eyes. Also, Ian McKellan, a gay actor, has been known to tear out Leviticus 18:22 from the Bible. That is the part that is anti-gay. He has actually started quite a trend. You won't find Lev 18:22 in my Bible!
