You stated that you wanted numbers for what I think is1000 students when you stated "You assign consecutive labels to all the students".

If you meant all the students total then you need to assign one thousand numbers and unless you start with zero and go 0 - 999, you will assign the numbers 1 - 1000 and that will require a quadruplet to 1000. As I understand the question you mean to assign numbers to all 1000 students and then use those 1000 numbers to select exactly 500. If I am reading this correctly then the answer is:

    C. Quadruplets

If you mean to first select 500 students I don't think that you would have bothered to mention the original one thousand - what would be the point in doing that, but if that were true then the answer would be:

    B. Triplets.

I don't think that you mentioned the original 1000 students for no reason at all and therefore you need numbers for all 1000 students, so I'll go with:

    C: Quadruplets <------------------- Answer
