How did you become a supporter of your Footy Club?

For me, I live in Adelaide, so its obvious for me to follow Adelaide Crows.
Before Adelaide entered the comp, I followed North Melbourne, and I still have a keen interest in the Kangaroos. My reason for following North, is because Malcom Blight played for them, and he once was my football coach at school.

I'm a passionate Adelaide man so supporting the Crows wasn't a hard choice, I mean we are the team for ALL South Australians.

It's funny though, a lot of people support a club because there dad supports them, well i'm the opposite lol. My dads a Port man and when I was young I always used to love arguing with him about how better the Crows are.

It's hard to pick an exact moment of how I became a supporter of them though, supporting the Crows just came naturally after a number of years.

My friend was a Collingwood supporter and I didn't have a team.

I never knew he coached ya how about that! Back in 2005 I was flying back to Perth and he was coming over to cover footy so waiting to board the plane I was just a few metres from him but a few people were already talking to him.
I used to like the Eagles as a young kid but wasn't a religious footy follower (WCE was the only team I knew lol) I started likin North after I watched the 1999 GF (call me a gloryseeker but I've stick with them despite no major success since) but didn't really religiously follow footy until 2001 (Which was a bad year for the Roos)

There was this game on playstation 1 called AFL 1998 I think lol and Robert Harvey was on the cover so I used his team and thought woah this guy is good - and I started following St Kilda..

Well, that's sort of when I actually really got interested in AFL and started watching consecutive games. I always barracked for St Kilda since I was 3 because my cousin did, but theres a fine line between saying you go for a team and actually knowing/supporting the team.

So many people I know say they go for a team, watch one game on TV (example St Kilda v Geelong) and they act like theyre top supporters - Then you ask them to name 5 players and they're like... WHAT? :)

My Dad is a one eyed Carlton supporter in football and cricket...when I was younger he was playing cricket for Carlton at Princess Park (Optus Oval) in summer so I'd get to see Jezza, Bruce Doull and Big Nick etc all at training when the Carlton cricketers were finishing up.

When I was a kid I thought their jumper was better than the other 11 (at the time) teams because it was the only one with the stripes running across the body (actually, the official term is hoops) so I decided to follow Geelong, and then found out they were called the "Cats" so that kinda like sold the deal for me!

Brainwashed into supporting West Coast by the WA media. Grew up an avid Hawthorn supporter. Supported Hawthorn because my local club in my hometown were the Hawks as well.

Well not only I live in Sydney, but when I was young I used to love playschool and in the thru the windows, I saw a boy watching the AFL cheering for the Swans. I was a fan of the Swans when i was 4 but wasn't really interested. Now, i am so attached

WAAAAAAAY back in 1967, i listened to the grand final on the radio, with my uncle, he was a tiger supporter and i listened to the footy with him throughout the year as a young tacker, we won the flag and i have stuck with them ever since. Not an exciting reason or answer but it's a truthful one. Go Tige's.

Grew up in South Melbourne and started going to matches from a young age. My family were all Swan supporters. Very sad when they had to go to Sydney but now live in NSW and all is forgiven and especially happy that I saw a Premiership in my lifetime (where we won). I have fond memories of seeing Bob Skilton win 3 Brownlows and the fireman Fred Goldsmith being the only full back who'd won one and going to the first night game at the South Melbourne Footy Ground and playing St.Kilda in the Lakeside Premiership and wearing knitted beannies to the footy and going to the Western Oval and the old Richmond and Hawthorn ovals. Were those the days or what???

My family (which includes siblings, cousins, parents, aunt's, uncles, grandparents) are all Eagles supporters and we would get together to watch games. I hated football, i think this is to do with tooo much of it at a young age eg. bothers footy matches, watching every eagles game, having to listen to it on the radio in long car trips - it really made me hate it.

BUT for the 2004 derby (i was 10) we were allowed to wear our teams colours to school, i made the decision it would be the Eagles. I only knew of Eagles and Freo and I didn't want to support team who wears purple as i thought the guys wouldn't take me seriously. That night I raced out to buy a wce scarf.... Eagle ever since

My brother was just like you, he supportered both the eagles but moreso the kangaroos in the early 90's even has a blue and white knitted blanket to show for it. But now after changing from north in the mid 90's is deffiantly an Eagles supporter, though would consider north as his 'second team'.

Well, my family supported Essendon, and I was a little kid, who hated my brother.

Got dragged to a footy game at the age of 5, and supported the team against my brother's team (Collingwood).

I didn't really care about footy much till I was 10. Thats when I really started supporting Collingwood, much to my family's dismay.

My cousin came in one day in 2005, with a premiership on his mind. He had a flag, a guernsey on and was passionate. I didnt think much of it, i mean, how hard would it be to make a grand final? Since watching that game, my passion grew - just in time for 2006 :)

I moved to Adelaide just about a year ago, and everyone was talking about this strange, rugby-like sport that looked very interesting. I learned all about it in time for the 09 season, and now footy is probably my favorite sport!

Oh, and I picked the Crows because my Aussie friends told me the Crows were, as far as winning percentage, the most successful, competitive team in AFL history... and it's much easier to support a winning team, rather than a losing one like Port.

I was born in the middle of the Geelong-West Coast 1994 Grand Final. My parents wouldn't let me barrack for the Eagles, because we are from Victoria, so I ended up being a Catter fan. Proved a good choice the last couple of years!!GO CATS!!

When i was a young tacka i was mascot for my local team who wore the black and gold a team which i later played for for 6 years so the tigers were in my blood from an early age . It also helped my choice that at that time we were a powerhouse of footy(ah those were the days)
