Do I have to live in a dorm?

I want to go to college, I am gonna go in 2 years, but I DON'T want to live in a dorm. I have my reasons, I don't really need to go into them. Anyway, I am trying to go to A&M, but in general, what are living requirements for first year college students? Is there a way to get around HAVING to live in a dorm?

It depends on the specific university. In general, if it's not a commuter school, the answer is yes.

I think the dorms get a bad rap. The living environment isn't fantastic - a bit cramped and dirty - but living in the dorms are a ton of a fun and a great way to make friends.

Lived in the dorms at a big state school, both as a regular person and a lazy resident advisor who never enforced the rules
