Is this series win the definitive proof of Australia's true bench strength?

Question

Despite 9 players being injured, we have managed to clinch the series with 1 match to go. How good an effort is that?

I think this bodes really well for the future considering the 2011 WC is not that far away.

Congrats to our boys on a hard-fought series win and commiseration to the Indians.

Yes, it really annoys me how some people have the guts to write off the Australian team so early. It's funny how 3 world cup wins in a row and 2 CT wins in a row mean absolutely nothing.

Australia have proved that they are the best and a class above the rest. It isn't easy to win in India and Australia ended up performing really well winning the series with 1 game remaining with 9 of their best missing. It's a fantastic effort!

India need to pull up their socks and sort out some issues before 2011 if they want to win!

Winning this series with a 2nd or even 3rd string team isn't only a great effort by Australia but will make them stronger. Think of how much the youngsters will take out of this series.
Winning a series against the 2nd ranked team on their own soil will give them a world of confidence. Players like Bollinger, Paine, Monou, Moises and all the rest of them will be so much more confodent and prepared when playing for Australia in the future.

Not really. You've got a waning Indian side and an overworked Aussie side.

Just think what it will be like if all the injured players were not, the scoreline would've read 6-0 or even 7-0.

Too many Mickey Mouse games that don't mean anything have taxed the boys so that they are falling in a heap and second-stringers need to be brought in, who still do the job.

Thats one thing I like about Australia, their attitude towards sports being a major sporting nation --intensity and fighting spirit,can expect an average Aussie sportsman to have this no matter whether they excellent or ordinary in terms of skill level

I'm really happy that my team won the series with a new bunch of players,also what I liked was that there was not much of talking in this series, they let their performance do the talking

Australia's depth has never been in doubt. Despite losing McGrath, Warne, Hayden, Gilchrist, they've maintained the #1 or 2 position in both test & ODI (maybe briefly dropping to #3.) That said, they're still not as strong as they have been for so long. I'm sure they'll lose more than they did with those players in the team, but even so they will remain the team to beat.

Such is the strength of domestic cricket in Australia that there will be always a player that is ready to fill an absence. The way the attack came together to just destroy the Indians was wonderful. The solid, confident batting as well was good to see. Awesome result...bad luck to India.

That seems to be the case....

They did stumble for a while offlate... but they are right back on track again.... The adjective "Invincible" doesn't seem to leave aussie.. though it did seem to for a while..... But no.....

They proved for the one more time that they r the true world champions.... As far as India, they always prove they are home champs whenever Aus visit India but not this time and not any more........

THey are champs and they prove it again. They are World champions, CT champions. and they showed that how and y they are crown champions and remain No.1 for long.. i really impress with this aus motivation with 9 injured players..

Yep it was a really good performance by Australia, to win a series against a strong opponent like India with so many of their players being injured. They deserve every bit of the victory.

Bench strength?, what an odd concept. If you're playing well enough at first-class level, you're always a chance at a call up regardless of whether you've got a CA contract or not.
