Is it possible to get paid from the US even if i live in Oz?

ok, so any info that anyone can provide here will be great!! So thanks in advance. My friend wants me to do some work for him over the net BUT he lives in the states and i'm in Oz,so how can i get paid? Is there anyway i can cash an american cheque in Oz or is epassport the best way forward? If epassport is the best thing to do, can anyone explaint to me in plain english how it works? Because the way i understand it is that everytime i transfer money over from the states to Oz its going to cost me $50 but hopefully this work i do for him will become a regular thing and i don't really fancy paying $50 a time,any way around this?

The big Australian banks have offices in the largest US cities. They should be able to pay straight into your bank in US funds. Ask your bank about how this works.

Other alternatives are International bank wire transfer (this will cost), Paypal, Western Union money order, Visa/ Master card.

You can work for your friend. and you use paypal for transferring salary. there are many services which charges you some amount to transfer amount.You have to check for that.
