100cc and 125cc are different classes, so which one do you want to run? KTs are cheaper, depending on if there blueprinted and by who, and Rotax seems to be the most popular here in CA. and the same goes with blueprint and by who, I run sprints and the Yamahas, one blue printed by Yellow Fin and the other by Emick, but to tell the truth they don't see much action anymore as I went cheap and fun with the Clone class, we usually field about 20 karts per race, where the Rotax is lucky to see 7 or 8 and the KTs depending on class about the same, as long as I'm having fun I dont care if they call us the lawn mower class, becides it's a real easy engine swap if I want to bolt on my Briggs Animal.

I've karted for many years, in the Pacific northwest and canada.

Rotax is a class of its own when compared to Yamaha's and Leopards. Weight doesnt matter either because the class is a set weight. (Bolt on lead)

Rotax has less bottem end Torque but has a Powervalve that releases when at a certain cylinder head compression that lets it take off compared to the Leopard thats got a lot of torque. TAG Leopards are a bit faster around the sprint. Thats why ussually thier in a different class. Rotax is the big thing here in the NW. And in California. I've heard through out the states aswell

Both classes have 3 or more weight divisions with minimum weights so weighing 120KGS wont be a dis-advantage. I would sugest the Clubman (or KT100S) at first to get used to how a kart works. While the Rotax is quicker, they also run a much grippier tyre that will really knock your body around and stress muscles you don't usually use. You want to enjoy the experience for as long as possible and not pull into the pitts unable to move your arms after 5 laps. Don't forget, you will NEVER drive a better handling machine in your life...
PS... The average kart weights around 70-75 KGS
