Where am I going to buy my duty-free alcohol? LA to auckland, to wellington?

I am 18 years old, making me able to purchase alcohol in new zealand, but not in LA.
Am I able to purchase ciggarettes and alcohol in Auckland airport, even though I will not be travelling internationally from Auckland, only to auckland?

I am staying in LA for 5 days before departing for New Zealand, so Heathrow is out of the picture.

Also, I have a gift pack for my friend, which contains a 5cl bottle of jack daniels, am I able to take that through or shall I just leave it here with a friend?

I am travelling to LA with my grandmother, so if I can not take the jack daniels, would she be able to take it to LA, and then I take it back to NZ?

Your grandmother can buy the alcohol in LA, once you have gone through passport control in LAX you can take possesion of the alcohol.

Duty free items can be bought in the transit area of Auckland and taken onto the plane. You can also purchase duty free items in Auckland and arrange to pick them up at Wellington.

Duty free items bought in New Zealand must be taken out of the country before being opened, so you will not be able to open the cigarettes until you return to LA (no smoking inside New Zealand public buildings), opened bottles of alcohol can't be taken onto a plane either, so any alcohol that your grandmother purchases for you in LA can't be opened until you are on the flight from Auckland to Wellington, and must be left in NZ

You can purchase your alcohol in Auckland when you arrive but you must buy it before you go through customs . The duty free shop should be open unless you are arriving through the night. Yes put your gift pack in your check in suitcase or give it to grandma.

You are 18 so that's legal. I guess you could purchase them at the airport. As for Jack Daniels, yes you can i think, i don't see why not lol
