Resolved Question

Show me another »

Is it Goodbye to Fatty?

Channel Nine want to axe Fatty and replace him as host of The Footy Show.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/m…

Seems this new show on Seven might take over.

Have to laugh at Dell going on Australia's Greatest Athlete, trust him to do that.

Additional Details

I haven't heard of him either Knights10.

If it happens, that will be the last of their logies. I'll be switching to Mattys show on 7.

Isn't Sterlo supposed to be back on the show next year? Would he still do it without the Fat?

To me Fatty is The Footy Show. Yeah I heard that Sterlo is back on the show next year as well, but it still wouldn't be the same without Fatty. If Nine lets him go they will end up regretting it, I doubt anyone would watch it without him, I know I wouldn't. If he's gone I'll be watching Mattys new show on 7.

I like you Abby, we think a bit alike.

Channel Nine keep stuffing up, first the sacked Matty and now this with Fatty. They're the ones that will lose out.

I really enjoy watching Fatty. I am not a fan of NRL but I often watch the NRL footy show after the AFL one and fell in love with him so to speak.

    Fancy that!
If Fatty gets axed The Footy Show may as well be canned too. Paul Vautin is The Footy Show as far as I'm concerned! It just wouldn't be right if he wasn't there!

If Fatty gets the axe, I won't be watching the Footy Show, I don't even know who this Cameron Williams stiff is. It looks like our man Matty Johns is making an impact, just imagine him, Andrew Johns, Wendell Sailor and hopefully Fatty all on the same show full-time, nothing better. I'll be watching Matty and the rest over this Cameron guy any day, hopefully it gets on air early as possible.

Agree with Wattoman and Knights. Surprised the Footy Show hasn't been named the Fatty Show over the years. If you played the game where you said 'The Footy Show' and asked someone what their next thought was (the word assosciation game), in the majority of cases the reply would be a resounding 'Fatty Vautin'.

The Footy Show without Fatty Vautin will become a zombie of TV programmes. Not saying Vautin has brains per se, but zombies are essentially empty shells of a body, without something vital that makes them tick, and the Footy Show without Fatty will essentially be an empty shell of a show without something vital that makes it tick.

In fact if it wasn't for those Fatty moments, those little stuff ups on air, the Footy Show concept may never have got off the ground.

    My favourite, from 2002:
Mario to Fatty: "I got one word for you Fatty. You're an idiot!"
Fatty: "Thank you. That's four. <long pause> Three actually!"

No fatty will survive this hiccup.
He'll resign before he gets shafted.
Oops, hang on...What happened when he was at Manly all those years ago?

My view is if it's not broken don't fix it...
The footy show has been through that many revamps and the one remaining factor that keeps them at the top is FATTY...
Surely the big wigs at channel 9 wont risk loosing Fatty and the thousands of league fans that tune into the show every week

first Sterlo, then Chief, then Matty Johns, now Fatty might not be on the footy show anymore
he is the only one that makes the show good, without him there will be no viewers.

last year i watched every footy show but this year i watched only 1 show after they sacked Matty Johns.

Fatty better not go, he's to much of a legend to get the sack, stupid channel nine don't know what they are talking about

They have to do something. The Footy Show lost it years ago. They got rid of anyone who made sense. No Sterlo, no Haddley, no Blocker. Three great minds who took their footy seriously. At the moment the only decent show on Nine is the Sunday Roast. Foxtel's footy shows are so much better. I hope the new one on Seven takes off and does well.

The footy show has been rubbish for years...how it lasted this long i will never know.
It seemed to make a bit of a recovery this year..less matty johns (does anyone but yocal rednecks find him funny?) more football, but seems not enough to satisfy the bigwigs..

You are much better served to shell out, get fox, and watch NRL tactics and NRL on fox. Much more serious about rugby league and the issues of the game.

Dell will be hopeless on Australia's Greatest Athlete. He might win the rugby league challenge, that's all. I'd love to see Hayne on the show.

The Footy Show would not be the same without Fatty. We have already lost so many of them in the show... and we have only Fatty and Vossy in the show. I used to enjoy so much when Sterlo, Matty, Chief and Fatty around. They made the show so lively. If Channel 9 think they can replace Fatty easily then they are in deep trouble. Fatty can easily join Matty in the new show, and out do Channel 9 Footy Show.

Going to miss Footy Show if Fatty is gone...

Mel, you've got to be joking...guess not! I'm still trying to get over the article saying that 'some league insiders say fatty's jokes are a bit old-hoop'????? I mean, I'm not old, but I still get his jokes!

You need someone on the show with RL cred's, and Cam Williams wont cut it! C'mon, I've put up with Vossy for so long, dont tell me we're gonna get another non-ex-RL player!!!! I'd really be switching off then!!!

Plus, this Cam Williams is the reason I hate watching the 9's morning news, and now watch 7 or ABC2 (seriously better).

IF 9's going down this road, CH7 (if they secure John's brothers and Dell) are going to kick ass majorly!!!

Not terribly fussed if the Footy show gets canned. It's good to see the lighter side of some players, like Beau Ryan's legendary performance earlier this year, but I think performances like that are in the minority.

The Sunday Roast can be canned too. Gould is treated like some sort of messiah, TK and Voss are just utter tools and MG couldn't string a coherent argument together if his life depended on it.

Sterlo's Sunday Footy show is the only footy show worth watching.

Cameron Williams used to be a sports presenter on Fox, and he is now on Channel 9.
He appears occasionally on the Today show weekly, and co-hosts the Weekend Today Show.

I haven't watched the Footy Show for some time, but all the changes haven't helped the programme much. Let's see what kind of a show Channel 7 can come up with .. please, without Bruce MacAvaney.

I don't watch the show every week as it's way past my bedtime but when I do I love watching Fatty and the show would be nothing without him.
