Federer beat Murray!?

Question

Whoa! Fed beat Murray 3-6 6-3 6-1. I have to admit after the first set I thought Federer would go down in straight sets, but Federer continued to fight and pretty much ran away with it! Go Fed! What did you think of the match? Federer is in pretty good form now leading into the semis!

Johny,it surprised me when Roger chose to receive after winning the toss today. He generally serves after winning the toss but he had other plans in mind obviously. I knew one thing for sure that this match would go to three sets because if there is a tie at the end of three round robin matches every set would matter. Roger did good in the second set and the momentum swung in his favor.
Andy Murray gave up in the third set and it looked like he is saving his energy to play Verdasco. If he beats Verdasco, he has a better chance of making it to the semifinals.

One more thing, when Roger gets in the zone and starts hitting, very few people can stop him. He looked determined today because he wanted to secure the number one position and all credit to him for putting up with the home crowd. I thought there was a lot of pressure on Roger today because of the head to head record against Andy Murray and the number one position at stake, but he came out with flying colors.

Anyways, Congrats! to Rogi for getting back the number one position!

Yeah man. That's crazy! I expected Federer to take it to a decider, but I did not expect Murray to
crumble like that. However, after the first set, Fed started to play much better and really deserved to win.

Federer's first serve improved with each set, from 50% to 64%, and finally 87% in the third. He dug in when he needed to--great job.

I thought it was an excellent fight back...he really managed to find his game. I'm so proud of him because in this match and the Verdasco match, he didn't crumble in the last set like he did all throughout the year!
He played out of this world in the last set and a half...really a well deserved win!

Heavytop - there's nothing arrogant about stating the fact that a tennis match is always on the racket of the attacking player, not the passive one.

i was not suprised by this win... as federer is obvioulsy a much more complete player... and fed has so much more options to go for in his game. and so much more authority..

murray is just a conservative player.. percentage tennis.. moves the opponent around.. and builds on there negative mometum....

as well when i saw how federer defeated verdasco.. again from a set down and behind in the second set... that proved alot of federers resilence... his ablility to show resolve and keep his nerve together... as verdasco is a more aggressive player then murray..
and again fed gave them a blowout in the final set....

i think fed is more confident with nadal out of the picture.. for now though..

Man, I am SO glad Federer beat Murray. At the end of the first set I was really pissed off and thought that Federer was going to go down in straight sets. But in the second set, he really dictated play, especially in the last few games. At the beginning of the third set, Murray was looking worn out and fatigued. That's when I knew my hero would wrap up the game. Good job to Murray for winning the first set by feeding off federer's errors, and good job to Federer for wrapping up the game by hitting amazing winners and serving blistering aces.
