Why can't people tell the truth?

95% of people are just lying,cheating assholes.They seem to think that lying will give them some sort of advantage-sometimes it does in the short term.

Because they are afraid of the repercussions - whatever they may be.
I hate liars and have recently backed out slowly of the life of a very dear friend because she lied to me. When I confronted her, she still lied.
I never judged her for what she did and why she lied, but I gave her a chance to come clean and she chose not to. For me, I do not need that type of person in my life. I couldn't believe a thing she said after that so there was no point in continuing the friendship.
Somehow, sometimes the truth ALWAYS comes out. Remember that when you lie to someone.

If your question is referring to Tiger, he did tell the truth in the long run. He basically told you that it is none of your business.

People who fear losing a 30 million dollar a year endorsement might not always tell the truth if it would make them look less than the perfect image they have tried to create. Just a thought.

With the mentality of so many today, Judge Judy has the right motto . " It is easier to tell the truth. Then you don't have to have a good memory." There is nothing wrong with the truth. In certain cases, one has to use it wisely because of the harm it may do to another.
