    This was thrust upon me, as I slowly became aware of myself around the age of three (my mom insists I was talking in full sentences when I was two, but I have no memory of that), and since that time, I figured out very quickly that dying and death are terrible things to avoid, as well as any other kind of major physical injury, because injuries hurt bad, so…

    Since then I've been successfully avoiding dying with a built-in self-preservation instinct that seems to have served me well so far, knock on wood.
