If the length of a rectangle is decreasing at the rate of 2cm/sec while the width is increasing at the rate of 2 cm/sec. When l=12 cm and w = 5cm find the rates of change of
a: the area
B: the perimeter
I solved this easily and found the right answers, a is 14 cm^2/s while B is zero.
My question is, how is this possible? How can the perimeter have no net change but the area is changing? I can't picture this.
