On Wednesday, Barack Obama let 214 federal prisoners go free, including 56 with felony firearms convictions.
The mass commutation is the largest ever issued in a single day and Obama’s total number of commutations is more than the last nine presidents combined.
So far, 562 felons have been released – 200 of whom had life sentences.
He says he is focusing on non-violent drug offenders, but his commutation of criminals with gun crimes suggests otherwise, which is particularly ironic coming from a President who has repeatedly called for more gun control and more laws. But what’s the point of more gun laws if you’re simply going to let violators get off scot-free?
