Manufacturers switched to this, to get more screens per manufacturing run. The resulting picture is reasonable, but the aspect ratio is wrong and I need this to edit /preview graphics and photos out in the country. So: I want a 15.4" laptop with a 1920x1200 WUXGA screen, but nobody makes them any more. Which leaves me with EBay (Or GraysOnline.com Auctions). My question: what laptop is the most recent, or least obsolete, that matches my needs?

  • Why are Laptop batteries such a high voltage?

I thought all the circuits inside tried to use about 3.3 volts. The latest notebook displays even use LED's for back lighting. So- why are the batteries typically 7.2 volts, or even higher? Several charger modules use 12 volts to recharge the battery. Why can't I just use 3 or 4 "C" cells ? What is it that needs the high volts ?

If YOU were Xenu, how would you take out Tom- Nukes, like the original Thetans, or just pummel his home with an asteroid? I have a spreadsheet (and chart) that I work with, using Excel 2003 AND 2007 (different machines). The chart is on a seperate tab. Under '03 I can click View -> zoom to window and the chart automatically resizes. Where is this on the newfangled ribbon? Every time I edit this file under '07 it screws up the charts.

Now I'm moving into video, with the possibility of some animation. Is the Dell Inspiron still my best choice? I love a 1920x1200 screen, BUT- they can only take 2GB (!) This would normally probably be fine, BUT now I'm forced to buy Memory Hog Vista with any new machine. So- HP, Toshiba, Sony, even (gulp) Apple are options. It's not like I have legacy video software I need to run. Which machine, and how much RAM / drive space, do you recommend?

  • Where can I learn Thai in Adelaide, South Australia?

My web searches have found places in Sydney & Melbourne. I've found language schools teaching English to Thais. And the local universities seem focused on European languages (French, German). Any suggestions on learning Thai in Adelaide? As a tonal language, I'd only consider online as a last resort- not enough feedback or practice.
