I am trying to write a sentence like this below, but neither of them looks great. The second one had a number enclosed in brackets, but I don't really like that. So the question is: how to remove the brackets in the second one?

There are 4 ways to express as below. I like the first one, but is it grammatically sound?

I have a plumber who came yesterday to cap two plastic pipes using plastic 'push-fit cap'. As the pipes will be placed below the floor, I really don't want to see any leak in the future inside the floor. So I just want to know if it is more reliable to use 'brass compression cap'. The 'push-fit cap' looks cheap.3 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)6 years ago
I plan to buy a new home and thinking about what I should do about the current home (acquired in 2010). There are two alternatives that are relevant to me:
1) Sell the current property now. In this case, I am not liable for any capital gains tax because the property has been my main home.
2) Let the property out for 10 years, and then sell it. But in this case, the property became an investment and I'll be liable for heavy capital gains tax.
For the option 2), I'm confused about the time period to pay the capital gains tax. Does the capital gains start from the year I bought the property (ie. 2010), or the year the property became an investment?

I'm buying a property and today is the scheduled contract exchange date according to both parties (the vendor's solicitor and my solicitor). But apparently the exchange failed to happen today. I could not get hold of my solicitor for comments, so I just spoke to the estate agent. They told me that both solicitors were ready to exchange today, but there is another chain (or layer) to cross. My impression is that both sides have done their work to exchange, but there is a final hurdle. I don't know what it is, but something is out of the control of both solicitors. Anyone can give me some idea?4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate7 years ago
I'm buying a property and need to transfer the deposit to my conveyance solicitor. Do I need to transfer the money to them before the exchange date, or just before the final completion date? I know that there are often 2 weeks between these two dates.4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate7 years ago
I need to replace my car cigarette lighter in a local garage, but they advised me to go with the main dealer which has the exact part. I called Mercedes-Benz's main dealer, but they don't do the service on Saturday. So my situation is to find a local Mercedes-Benz specialty in South East London which can do the service on Saturday.2 AnswersMercedes-Benz8 years ago
In the UK, there are many different lines marked next to the curve: single white lines, double white lines, single yellow lines, double yellow lines ...
Does it mean that I have to find places without any line markings? Please help to provide a through guide in terms of exactly where I can park my car.7 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation8 years ago
I want to park my car, but don't know the meaning of white single line and yellow single line. Is there any difference between these two?10 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation8 years ago
Hi, I just know that I can only park on single yellow lines outside the times of control on a plate nearby. But today I could not find any plate around. In this case, can I park my car there without penalty?5 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation8 years ago
I need to find a Mercedes Benz agent in London to do some service. My home is located in Greenwich, London. Just wondering if there is a Mercedes Benz's agent near Greenwich. It's very helpful if you can tell me about it.4 AnswersMercedes-Benz8 years ago
When driving in the winter I normally turn on the air conditioning. But this caused a problem: there is moisture on the internal windscreen which can blur my view. I have to use a mop to manually clear the internal windscreen window. Is there a way to deal with this, without having to use a mop manually?8 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years ago

I just had enough of booking separate journeys with National Express. Every time I need to pay 50p for the transaction fee, 50p for the e-ticket, and take a long time to input my card details.
Do you know if I can just add multiple journeys to the basket, and then make the payment in a single transaction? It will be really convenient if possible.3 AnswersCommuting10 years ago
I checked on the National Rail site. Just found the train ticket price for the journey from Cardiff to London is really expensive (£30 single way). Is there any cheap train service between Cardiff and London?6 AnswersCardiff10 years ago
I want to put my 32" digital Sony TV on the wall. I plan to order a TV bracket. But I have a question. Using a TV bracket, will the TV be too close to the wall? Because otherwise I cannot use the many sockets on the back of the TV for Wii gaming, USB etc (all of them blocked).
Do you have this experience? If this is not a problem, then I just order a suitable TV bracket.2 AnswersTVs10 years ago
