  • Is it weird to give your child the same name as a friend?

I really like the name Nathan, and one of my good friends is also named Nathan. I wouldn't be naming my son after Friend Nathan, I just happen to like the name. Would that be weird? My husband was unhelpful so here I am.

  • Why is the U.S so supportive of Israel?

This a conflict I know very little about. Could someone give me some background information about what the US has at stake in Israel? All I really know about Israel is that it is a Jewish state established after WWII. Thank you for any information you can provide.

  • How do I be a better mother to older children?

My kids are in college, and neither live in my state right now. My daughter and I got into a fight because she drove 4 hours to visit her boyfriend without telling me, and my son called me obnoxious on the phone and later lied about going to the football game just because he knew I'd be disappointed if he didn't go. I am aware that I am bad at keeping my opinions to myself, but I'm realizing that I might not be the mother they want / need right now. Any suggestions for how to be a mother to college kids.

  • Is my mother overreacting?

Quick story: I called my parents to complain to them about how stressed I've been at work lately, and told my mom that I was planning a weekend trip to meet my sister. She told me "That's never going to happen" because she thinks I'm incapable of planning my way out of a paper bag. When I tried to explain that this trip was probably happening, she said, "Okay" in that smug tone parents use when their

is being argumentative. Keep in mind I'm a 24 year old with my own home and a job. My continued explanation was met with the same "Okay." I got frustrated and told her she was being obnoxious and hung up the phone. That was three days ago, and our only contact has been her texting me saying "Sorry you find me so annoying". She has ignored my calls, and I'm just making sure that I'm not completely in the wrong here. What should I do? I hate arguing with her but I don't want to apologize unless I'm wrong.

  • Can you describe the ideal Republican presidency?

Imagine our president was some mainstream Republican who didn't tweet himself in the foot all the time. What sorts of laws would you want passed, types of policies, that sort of thing. I'm genuinely curious about what Republicans hope for.

  • Why is my son so hurtful?

I love my son very much and I think we're pretty close, but sometimes he just says the most thoughtlessly hurtful things. He's home visiting from college right now, and has been running errands for me while I'm at work. I think he must be getting bored, but when I told him I was going to work from home the other day he looked at me and said, "No, you should go to work." I was going to work from home to hang out with him and he knows that, and now my feelings are hurt. He would rather run my errands and sit in our house by himself than spend time with his mother who loves him. Could someone tell me if this is normal and I'm overreacting?

  • How bad of an idea is it to get married the same month as my brother?

My brother plans to get married on November 16. My fiancé and I were thinking about booking a church on November 2. Would that be too much wedding for one family in a month?

  • Why do people come to the US illegally?

I know there is a system that allows people to emigrate here legally. Why not go through the system? Especially considering the crackdown on immigration that's going on.

  • Why did the Greens do so well in the EU Parliament election?

I'm writing an article on the subject and am hoping some Europeans could give me some insight. I was under the impression everyone thought the populists were going to win big.

  • What do you think about the name Varina?

My husband and I are coming up with names for our second daughter, and I remembered hearing "Varina" somewhere and thinking it sounded pretty. It is unusual though.

  • How to tell if you've been blocked on Snapchat of if the account was just deleted.?

An old friend on Snapchat suddenly left our group chat and seems to have vanished. I tried to re-add him as a friend through an old group chat but the add button does nothing. I've sent a picture and it has gone through but hasn't been opened, and when i search for his username nothing comes up. Is there a way to check and see if I've been blocked? Or could he have just deleted his account completely?

  • What do do about severe speeding ticket?

My 20 year old son was driving home from a road trip and was stopped in Illinois. He was going 108 mph on a 70 limited interstate. He was not drunk and said he was just tired and in a hurry to get home. The officer did not arrest him but did have him pay $200 in bond and issued a ticket to appear in court next month. This is his first offense. I m no stranger to speeding tickets but this seems scary to me, and I looked up the penalties and am officially panicked. Should I call a lawyer? Is my son going to jail? Please help a terrified mom out because I m going in blind.

(Also we don t live in Illinois, so is there any chance we could pay the fine without having to drive all that way?)

  • Can a divorced parent move a child out of state without the other parent s permission?

My ex-husband has joint custody of our two kids with me, but he wants to move them back to his hometown two states away so he can be closer to his family. I would rather him not go because I don t want to see my kids less often but they mostly live with him. Thoughts?
