What type of mouse is this? And where can I release him/her?

I caught this little cutie but it's -2 to 7 degrees celcius outdoors and sometimes raining. Any ideas where/how to release him so he has a chance at survival? Also can anyone recognize what type of mouse he is? His name is Foster btw. :P ps: He seems to have a tail injury. Does it look serious?

  • Hamster issues?

I have a hamster who gets up at 2am and expects me to play with him and put him in his ball, recently he has been trying to chew his way out of his cage. Is there anything I can buy to help occupy him or should I just start waking him up, and Can I change his sleeping schedule?

  • EMERGENCY!! Guinea pig lying on his side unable to eat & drink. What are some ways to feed him? (Mom won't let us take him to the Vet)?

Best answer: Unfortunately, guinea pigs are prey animals and don’t show their sickness until they are near death. It sounds to me like your guinea pig is very sick and will likely die without veterinary intervention.

  • Saw a mouse run behind my garbage can. Moved the can to kill it, and it wasnt there. Its like it literally vanished into thin air. Confused.?

Can someone explain what could have happened? Are certain species of mices capable of camouflage? Cause they obviously cant vanish into thin air. And its a solid wall there. Not like there are holes in my walls.

I was planning on having the cage on a small desk table (2' by 5'?) and i would allow the whole desk as a play pen (without boundaries) for the hamster. will the hamster know to stay in the boundaries and not jump off and hurt itself and escape, or is this a big no no? I had mice before and i had them play on a chair for 10 minutes, and they had no problems with staying on the chair, they did try to look for ways to escape but they never did, as far as a kept them there. thanks!~

  • We adopted 2 pet rats and was told they never bite. Which I held them and they didn't. But now bite twice (one of them) what can it be?

We do have other animals in the house. One hasn'T yet the other has. There both sisters and the previous owner said they have never bitten. Could it be our other animals... We have 2 cats and a dog. They will not be around the rats ever.

You sort of have to live with their poor table manners, but they eat it all eventually. Just a balanced healthy diets fine,or you can find recipes online for healthy human foods.
Before there was pre packaged kibble, my mice got mostly table scraps I would set aside for them and supliment that with healthy treats.

We would find it right away whenever that would happen. Well recently we got cat as a baby so he grew up with us and now he’s a big 6 month old cat. It’s been on three different occasions where I wake up at night and see my cat playing and pushing something around with his paws and when he sees me, he’ll grab the hamster in his mouth like a kitten and try to run away. Thankfully I get the hamster away from him and the hamster is fine. He’s still eating and running and whenever the door isn’t locked he’s still getting out. I was so worried the first time he was dead for sure but now I’m surprised why the cat hasn’t ate him.

  • Why did my hamster die?

Best answer: You did all you could. She probably did have a digestive issue or wet tail, and the medicine didn't act fast enough. This isn't something that you could have changed, you did all you could. Most people wouldn't have even taken a hamster to the vet, so you did much more than the typical owner would. show more

So Ive had my hamster for about two months now. Im getting ready to start hand taming her once im done with college this quarter. She has never bitten me before shes actually a pretty sweet hamster she lets me touch her on the back wvery so often. Well shes hissed before when we first got her but its not really happened since then.Until today Ill admit her cage is a bit small (a problem thats going to be fixed very soon) and shes still a bit skittish around us but thats to be expected since i havent really hand trained her much. But today i was cleaning my room (where she is housed) and talking to a friend on the phone. Now everytime she hears my voice she runs over towards where im at wanting treats. I gave her some toilet paper and was going to give her a apple treat. But instead as soon as she got the toilet paper. She ran in her nesting spot and began to scream at me. I didnt know what to think i hung up with my friend and checked on her and she screamed at me again. Ive left her alone since then. I try not to put her under stress . The small cage problem is going to be fixed this week and i dont really bother her that much just to give her treats, food, and ball time(i have dogs so i have to keep her in one). The only time i think i may have made her stressed is when i let her out of the cage for a bit she jumped out onto my bed and i tried to catch her from hurting herself on the metal parts of the bed. But that was a month ago and she seemed fine???

I would thingk24 hours of destress time it would come around. Problem still remains, if a cat gets hold of a mouse, it may not cause any superficial injuries but can easily cause internal injuries. Breathing is alive though in any event, you might give it another 12 hours, and see if there is any improvement or simply goes over the rainbow bridge.
If it does respond,it will likely be dehydrated and could use an electrolyte like pedialyte. Clean bottled water can substitute.
No foods to this point, dealing with shock and dehydration are first steps, then you might see if it will eat something like a piece of cucumber, watermelon, or baby foods.Jar lids make good food and water bowls.
Like you, I wouldn't get hops up, most of these cases end in fatality. If it should recover and regain strength, I do suggest releasing your little friend in some protected place well away from the house. Survival rate trying to keep them captive is about two weeks.
