Just recently got a 2004 530i. It drives great and perfect no check engine lights just normal wear and tear. About a week ago the transmission warning light came on. As soon as I turn off the car it’s gone again for a few weeks. I don’t have repair history of the vehicle so I need advice if I should go ahead with a transmission oil change to prevent any damage? Or will I risk ruining my transmission more if I have mechanics mess with it? I know BMWs are very sensitive cars and just need advice if I should do anything about the lights or just leave it. It currently has 166k miles. Please and thank you for your opinions!

  • Will a catalytic converter for a 6cyl 3.0 work on my 4 cyl 2.3?

Best answer: Just order a Walker brand converter from Advance Auto. Why take the chance of putting a converter on that still lets the codes set? The inlet and outlet connections for the converter may have a different flange or different size pipe. Many 6 cylinder motors have two pre-cats built into the exhaust manifolds and if... show more

Many 6 cylinder motors have two pre-cats built into the exhaust manifolds and if there is a third converter it likely doesn't have the same amount of catalyst needed in your 4 cylinder set up.

ford does offer good platforms as well such as the new excursion. totally intelligent awd/traction control/anti lock, and get this, NO USER INPUT IS NEEDED.
sure many other major manufacturers have similar capable platforms. but those are the two best in my book.
good snow tires are a must thou, no street tires. need some fairly aggressive tread. regardless of what you get.

I recently purchased a 2013 chevy cruze ltz from a dealer where i live. It functions fine and does all i need it to do except for accelerating smoothly or evenly. the car itself comes equipped with a "1.4-liter turbo-four cylinder engine that produces 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque." (thats a direct quote). i recognize that thats a small engine and i dont expect it to go from 0-60 in 1.2 seconds. it just feels painfully slow when accelerating and when it shifts gears you can certainly feel it. some times when it accelerates it lurches forward very fast. its not usually a huge problem as i drive on sparsely populated back roads most of the time but the other day i was driving on a busy road in town and when the red light i came to turned green all the cars around me blew past me like i was standing still, and i pretty well was. i recognize that most cars have larger engines but it was ridiculous. I have others in my family who have pretty much the same car, same sized engine and all, and they arent experiencing this problem. is there anything i could or should do on my own to remedy the issue? new spark plugs or a fuel injector cleaner maybe? or is it possible that it was designed with painfully slow acceleration in mind. my car is a 2013 cruze ltz with 77,450 miles on it. no engine lights or any other lights for that matter. the car has no problems other than the described sluggishness and sharp pickup in speed every now and then.
