  • Oxygen sensor is carboned up. Is there a way to clean it, like oven cleaner or something similar? What about taking a torch to it?

Best answer: Treat the active end of any O2 sensor like a halogen bulb, and let nothing foreign touch it.
O2 sensors, like spark plugs, wear out and get tired with time and are recommended to be replaced @ 100k miles. So, if your O2 sensor is working fine and not near the 100k miles threshold, leave it be, carbon or not.

Best answer: Question: Is it true that a car shouldn't go over 2000 RPM while the engine is cold? Answer: Not true. Best answer: Question: Is it true that a car shouldn't go over 2000 RPM while the engine is cold?

Answer: Not true. Many cars actually idle higher than 2,000 RPM when cold. 2,000 - 3,000 RPM is ideal for a small inline 3 or 4 cylinder cold engine like yours. When cold, Idling or driving below 2,000 is not ideal, nor is revving it up past 4,000 or 5,000 ideal.

Question: What are the possible consequences?

Answer: Going over 2000 RPM won't hurt the engine. Going up over 4,000 or 5,000 when the engine is cold is usually not recommended. It can cause a little more wear and tear on the engine which over time will result in the engine needing rebuilt or replaced a little earlier than usual.

Question: Did i harm my engine?

    Answer: No.

    Question: Should I worry?

Answer. No. Just avoid going up to 5,500 RPM when you first start the engine if you can. And actually getting in your cold car and going down the road right away, even past 2,000 RPM, is better for it than letting it idle to warm up. But non of these scenarios are something to worry about.

hi! so my check engine light came on about a week ago and the same day i took it by autozone to have them run a diagnostic test on it. it came back saying i needed a gas cap, so i replaced the gas cap and left. i drove it around for the next half hour or so and the light still hadn’t turned off. the next day it still wasn’t off so i went back to autozone to have them look at it again. he explained to me that every car has a “drive cycle” and i would need to drive it several miles before it would turn off. 2 days ago i drove it on a 45-minute drive and it turned off about 35 minutes into the drive and it stayed off until this morning when i was on my way to work. it just randomly turned back on. normally i wouldn’t really care as long as my car was driving alright, but i live in tennessee and to re-register your car every year, you have to go through emissions. i’m assuming if my check engine light stays on it won’t pass emissions, and i have to re-register by the end of this month🙃 just for clarification it’s a 2007 nissan altima, and it has 221,000 miles. any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

Best answer: Take it to any auto parts store. They dont care whether you buy new from them. Also, a lot of the dump grounds, (Waste Management Facilities) take it for free. Look up your county and see.

2001 with a 2.5 liter. I just bought it for really cheap, but the engine acts a little strange, and has a huge lack of power. I first noticed that it started to hiccup at idle every couple of seconds. It makes a popping sound in the exhaust when it happens (not like a bang, but a quiet pop). Then I noticed the slight hesitation from a dead stop. Oh, and that it won't go past 65, the engine just starts surging, making the whole car shake back and forth. So I decided to try a test. This is what I found. 1: I floor the gas pedal. 2: for a second, not much happens. 3: I finally get power. 4:At 2k rpm, it studders. 5:At 3k rpm, it studders again. 6: I stop at 4k rpm. After holding down the pedal for about 4 seconds, i was only going about 20mph. This problem seems to get worse when there is a high load. With light throttle, it seems mostly ok. The check engine light also just came on, going to have that checked in a few days. I just want to know what you guys think this would be. I was thinking it could be something with the fuel injection system, but could it be the timing or ignition too? I checked the spark plugs, air filter, and cleaned the map sensor. didn't help. any suggestions?

I recently took over my husband's old car which had 5 stickers on the back of the body. Since I hated those stickers, I decided to remove all of them. By using rubbing alcohol, I was able to remove 4 of them but the last one has kind of plastic ish texture and totally unremovable! I checked a lot of websites and tried rubbing alcohol, adhesive remover, distilled vinegar and hot water as they recommended but nothing worked! Of course I tried to scrape it off using my Starbucks card but I was able to do it only a little bit. When I went to get my car washed, one of the guys there said it would cost around $15 but not sure if they could remove it without damaging my car. I wanna try hair dryer but there is no power outlet at the parking of my apartment. I did everything I could but nothing worked. I wonder if anybody here has any idea how to remove plastic sticker from the car??
