• Would you cancel insurance to save money?

Full insurance with state minimum is costing $1500/year. Canceling collision and comprehensive would drop it to just $500/year. Would you do it when the car is worth just $7000 (wholesale trade-in value)?

I’ve had 1 accident during my time driving which is unfortunate but if I said I had no accidents looking for a quote would they know? I don’t want a black box and don’t want to pay more then 1200 for a car that’s not worth that much. Thanks

I was about 15 feet back but traveling at 30-35mph and having only front brakes (ford focus) was not enough to bring me to a complete stop therefore causing the rear end. The damage on their vehicle was nothing but a few scratches of paint found on the lower part of her Ford Edge 2015, a part which is universal for all Ford Edge of that year. That is the back story, now to the main problem. I crashed in my parents car, and I was found to be excluded on the insurance policy, so that would mean that the insurance would file a letter to whom i had crashed with stating that they will not cover any damage. The person whom I had crashed into is now sending me her estimate through text, she is looking to get $1500 out of it. That is an amount that I feel is not worth the damage I had actually did to her vehicle, so i had offered her to settle at $1000. She has not responded. P.s. The insurance companies never took down a statement from me about the accident, there was no pictures taken besides one of my license plate from the other driver, it was night time and my car is black so even if there was a picture taken the image would be hard to depict. Do I do the right thing and pay her the full total, or do I take another approach fix my own car with that money and get myself a lawyer, would I have a chance of winning or am I set for failure?

So, I'm going to try to explain this to the best of my ability. I moved from FL to CT in fall of 2017, and brought my car with me that has a Florida license plate. My registration and yellow tag expired in November and I didn't have the chance to renew it before I had to leave the country due to a family emergency. I am still currently out and won't be back until this summer. So currently my car is sitting in a family members garage in CT, only being driven to make sure the engine and car stays maintained. I need to know exactly how to go about renewing this expired registration/tag in the new state I will be living in, especially since its way past the expired date (I'm aware of possibly hefty fees). Not sure if any of this made sense, I'm really hoping someone can help me because I'm unable to reach any DMV's for help. They are all automated machines. I'd also be happy to clarify and questions anyone has. I hope you all have a good day

That is it, leave it at that. DO NOT try to explain to him why you need a title. But let me make this clear, you need a title.
Is he driving this vehicle on public roads? A lot of times non title vehicles are used on private property, like a farm or a ranch, but they can not be driven on a public road.
As for getting the title, again just pass on this deal. But to comment on the question, there are ways to get a title. But the buyer would need to have some paper work, bill of sale, cancelled check, witness to the sale, etc.
    1. This requires the current title holder to cooperate and that buyer needs to trust the current title holder will turn over the title. Current holder applies for a lost title, then signs it over to the buyer.
    2. Go to DMV and go through the process for buyers without titles. Rules vary by state. In most places you fill out some forms and they open a case. They review any documentation you have and may try to contact the current title holder, check if vehicle is stolen, permanent salvage title, etc, and/or make the buyer post a surety bond for the value of the vehicle.

  • Proof of inspection when registering a car?

Best answer: Usually in (most) states the seller is required to provide an emission test w/in 90 days of selling it. So if in fact the last emission test was in September and even (if) the DMV sees on the record it was last September, then that is (over) 90 days, thus will need another emission test.

Google your state and emission rules and when needed for selling a vehicle.
